which reggae are you speaking of?
the dancehall producers in yard are not controlled by any mzungu powers...
in fact most of them would love a major record deal with a 'mzungu' company like sony or atlantic or bmg , arista, virgin, whoever...
some like to stay independent due to the freedom they have...
the problem of the recording industry has more to do with the power of the huge conglomerate distributors who are entrenched after years in the business when black peeps didn't own anything so couldn't have a distribution network...
the problem now is mostly in the american market...
it's the old story of us not sticking together...
we make the music & the other man profits from it by & large...same thing in enetertainment & sports..
i wouldn't blame it on bob marley...it was bigger than him & still is...
i blame it on black peeps who refuse to come together & form major black-owned distribution companies...

if more of our j'can musicians & producers had the drive & ambition marley did j'can music would be in a far better position than it is now...
the crap some of these guys are producing now can't come close to the musical genius of marley and the other founding fathers...
