The first time I went to a Beji Nite praise worship I must have been 8 years old. This was a religious group that spoke in tongues, went into trance and wore white outfits with multicoloured waistbands topped off with colored turbans. They helped many West Indian people to endure the trials of their new life in Panama. They haven't disappeared from Panama but they are fewer, older and very reserved. Does anyone know if they originated in Jamaica?
