The question was, give examples of singers in the now who're able to move us on the level like the R&B singers (generally speaking) did back in the day.

Though you named some good ones, I gotta say Ciara and Beyonce don't quite do it. Especially Beyonce. Beyonce's songs have no staying power. If girlfriend wasn't putting them out one after the other like clothes on a clothesline, we'd have forgotten about her long, long, looooonnnng time ago. I mean. She's well marketed, her tunes are well aired, but they do not have that certain something. Not a one.

I'm not so much of a Beyonce fan as I am an Indis Arie fan but it seems to me that the general public is pushing Alicia Keys more so. Same thing applies with Joe, the brother can sing his butt off but the public and marketing people would rather push T.I. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img]( I can't understand a thing he's saying, and I usually click him off when I hear him.

I agree on some levels I have over 400 cassettes, where as my CD collection which is big but it isn't as nearly big as the old school music. It seems as though I am sticking with the same artists, I can see Neyo weathering the storms of time he is young but he has a certain something about him. Time will tell one way or the other.
