Thank you LadyZ! I never thought of it that way- not all "blue-eyed soul" artistes have blue eyes. Actually I despise the term.
How come no blue-eyed reggae? Or blue-eyed blues? Or brown-eyed rock or country? I see it has a way of segregating people. Like gospel music same way. "Black Gospel" - "White Gospel"...time to get rid of these expression if you ask me. Duke Ellington said there are two kinds of music: good and bad. Nuff said. I despise the title because of the racial reference. Why does one need to make a distinction between soul and "blue-eyed" soul? Can you always tell the skin colour of the artiste by LISTENING? Who cares? What point does it serve but to be an ism or skism? Soul is soul, music is music. In my opinion, music should be categorized by style not by race. Seen?

The new generation of R&B lovers seem to embrace the music of today's blue-eyed Soul artists, but their sound have something to do with the production teams behind them.

Today's biggest White soul singers have a strong Black producers/mentors behind them.

Joss Stone has worked with The Roots and raphael Saadiq. Justin has been supperted by Timbaland Robin Thicke, Andre Harrell.
