Mi need one book fi read.

So I am looking for a Christian book to read. I'm trying to not read another "self-help" book, and maybe try a black Christian fiction author, Any suggestions b/c I have never read one before.

If you have suggestions for a self-help/inspirational one I will take that too.

I just finished reading Joshua Harris's "Say hello to Courtship" I recommend it for anyone starting a relationship...good stuff.

Or that fabulous (and inspirational book) by Immaculee Ilibagiza: Left To Tell: Discovering God Admist.
Highly recommend this book.

HIMdaughta, I LOVE Frank Peretti!! Well, I loved <u>This Present Darkness</u> and its sequel <u>Piercing the Darkness </u>- couldn't help but feel the need to step up my prayer life after reading those. I also love anything by Francine Rivers. Fictional work, but very, very, very, very, very inspirational. Pick up a copy of <u>Redeeming Love</u> and see if you like it - it's a contemporary version of Gomer and Hosea (very powerful fiction). You can also look into her <u>Mark of the Lion Trilogy </u>- remarkable! She also has the Lineage of Grace series that examines the life of five prominent women in the Bible (Rahab, Tamar, Bathsheba, Mary, Ruth). There's also the male-counterpart (Sons of Encouragement series) to those novels, but I'm not completely sure of all the male figures that were portrayed.

For black authors, definitely check out Seemiyah's links in Faith and Reason [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]. I also like Michelle McKinney Hammond. Others I have, but probably haven't read as yet include <u>Saved Folk in the House</u> - title; Tia McCollors - author; Sharon Ewell Foster - author. There are a few others, but I can't remember them right now.

In terms of non-fiction, it runs the gamut. Right now I'm reading several books by Os Guinness. The one I'm finding most interesting is <u>The Call</u>, but <u>God in the Dark</u> is a close runner up.

stawt at the Salvation Army or any other collection point for charity...u wud be surprised how many books of this genre u can pick up for a song...i do my best bookshopping at these places...my preference is early 1900s characters of the Bible based books, and i see a lot of the recent publications..so if u not adverse to shopping at these venues, u can get more books for u money
