Guys n galz, do people in the United States, Europe, Australia, Africa, Latin America, etc. know about rich Jamaican musical culture?
That's why I was interested if you would like to share your love for Jamaican music (or any other Caribbean nation's music for that matter) with the rest of the World through an online song contest (World Forum Song Contest), meaning each month you would suggest some song you like (and send mp3) and when all the songs are known (at the beginning of the month) you would download and listen to make a top ten and wait for the results at the end of the month.
This contest takes place each month for 10 years.
Anyway, here are the Jamaican songs entered in previous 100+ editions of WFSC:
"Bounce Along" by Wayne Wonder
"Electric Avenue" by Eddy Grant
"Sweat A La La La Long" by Inner Circle
"Ma Baker" by Boney M
"Mishale" by Andru Donalds
"Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas
"No Letting Go" by Wayne Wonder
"Is This Love?" by Bob Marley
"Dude" by Beenie Man
"Tomorrow People" by Ziggy Marley
"Limbo" by Andru Donalds and Yevgeniya Vlasova
"Boogie Woogie Dancin' Shoes" by Claudja Barry
"Moment of Love" by Boney M feat. Liz Mitchell
"Love is Wicked" by Brick & Lace
"Redemption Song" by Bob Marley
"Bad Boys" by Inner Circle
"I see you" by Jutty Ranx
"You don't care" by The Techniques
These songs were entered by non-Jamaicans who apparently like our music & associate them with Jamaica.
What do you think about their choices??
So if you wanna know more about this game or even take part, check it out:
Greetz!
