The Kite Runner

Anyone read this book? Read it last month...it had me in tears.

The story seem like it was a memoir or biography but it's fictional. It tells the story of two Afghan boys...Amir the priviledged son of a wealthy man in Kabul. Hassan is the son of Amir's servant. The two boys grew up as brother and were indeed brother, something that Amir did not find out until many years after.

An excellent story. The author Khalen Hosseini also writes another great novel called "Splendour in the Sun"...this I haven't read yet.

Yep. Read it over the summer and was an incredible read.

I wasnt expecting to like it since it wa part of Oprah's Book Club thingy and I usually hate the books she chooses.

I am reading this now. I'm not thrilled. It's early on, and I am dsigusted by the main character.

Too bad I read this thread, didn't get the part about them being brothers yet.

Actually I am listening it to it on CD. I'll report back.

I read his other book and LOVED that one.

this is a great book...as was the other one...A Thousand Splendid Suns.

Kite Runner....is from a male perspective

Splendid Suns....from a female perspective

both offer some interesting and historical insights about the harshness of life in Afghanistan.

I was given the splendid suns by a patient months ago, and i have read about 2 chapters so far.
I promiose i will finish it though.

Read <span style="font-style: italic">Kite Runner</span> last summer while in Jamaica. Raw and edgy. Thought provoking. Read <span style="font-style: italic">Thousand Splendid Suns</span>right after. Still edgy, but a bit more polished than <span style="font-style: italic">Kite Runner</span>. Felt like the author had a movie in mind when he was writing.

Anyhow...both very good books and I recommend them both.
