my friend did the marketing for Jill Scott last yr and now does it for Angie Stone. She is always lamenting that record sales for these types of singers are not what she feels they should be.

To me - someone like a Jill Scott should be crippling the Beyonce's of the scene when it comes to sales but - apparently, we want the shell and not the substance ...

How else can you explain the sales of a 'Britney' ... ?

Scott doesn't seem to care that much tho - I get the feeling that even if she sold 10 records a year, she'd STILL be creating music - one of those things where it seems like it's breathing to her ...

I have all of Jill Scott's CDs and none of Beyonce's [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70400-talktohand.gif[/img]

problem is how many tiny-boppers buy music too. they have a lot of spending power, believe it or not. Hence high sales for the Britney's out there [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img]

i think true artists will continue to make money no matter what. But I'm sure they like to eat well too. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]

Empress - you'd have had to have seen the show with her on it to know why I'm saying this ... it's not that she went on the show - nothing wrong with that ... it was her attitude.

She almost beat out Dustin "Screech" Diamond in terms of laziness and bad attitude!

I tell you - I actually enjoyed putting my money down on the counter to buy this cd. You know how long it's been since I spent money to actually BUY a new cd from a record store?
