I read three or four books at a time...

Currently I am reading 1356 a historic novel by Bernard Cornwall.. he teaches me english history.... , A biography of Trotsky, and" Ensign Flandry" a SF book by Poul Anderson

I just finished "The Quest" by Daniel Yergin and "There will be Time" by Poul Anderson

I just ordered "Commanding Heights" Daniel Yergin and "The Dragon Bone Chair " Tad William..apparently it inspired Game of Thrones series of books with many of the same idea wwaring clans, dragons, a wall......I am getting with drawal symtoms...
Was going to get "Blood Meridian" by McCarthy.. it was recommended to me by a friend who tells me is filled with blood rascism in the south west USA...

I'm currently catching up on the Fools' Guild mystery series written by Alan Gordon. The series jumps off from Twelfth Night by Shakespeare. The books centre around a jester called Theophilus, sometimes called Feste, who is both a jester/fool and spy. Set in medieval Europe. Very witty, lots of intrigue and machinations, with the Fools' Guild being some sort of 12th century version of MI5. Strongly recommend these books to mystery lovers.

In between I am reading The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra. It's not a long book, and i tend to take a read when i feel meditative. I've read four of the seven laws in the past two months. I'll talk more about them in my thread in F&R about exploring alternate spiritualities.

I read a lot of the #1 Detective Agency series (borrowed the kindle books from my library)

I'm on the waiting list for King Peggy which is a book that Evanovitch mentioned here a while back, and a book called "The Art of Racing in the Rain"

(me nuh undastand why me caan get the books yet and is just one person in front a me as soon as i finish a kindle book i return it, because I'm considerate like that)

in the meantime I just reading the free kindle books that catch my eye and the kindle books that I can borrow from my library.

Also read the Silver Linings Playbook recently...the books are usually so much better than the movie (not that i saw the movie )....some others:

Just finished The Twelve Tribes of Hattie Ayana Mathis. I enjoyed it, but didn't like the way it ended. Thought it needed another 100 or so pages to round out the end. Maybe the author was setting up for a sequel.

This book was part of Oprah's book club. I don't follow her club, but the book was suggested to me based on my reading history. When I realized it was an O book, I figured it wouldn't be disappointing in the writing quality. Ms Winfrey usually selects books that are written well.

It's a nice summer read.

Read Twelve Tribes of Hattie it last year. It was disappointing and mi wi gi it one ratten mango outta two.

Right now I am trying to finish the eye-opening book by Cynthia Bourgeault The Meaning of Mary Magdalene.

Next up on my list to read in September is My Own Country: A Doctor's Story by Abraham Verghese. I read Cutting for Stone and I am hooked on his writing.

I just finished Defending Jacob a courtroom/mystery type book really enjoyed it, me gi it 3 ripe mangoes! Now I am listening to the latest No. 1 Ladies Dectective Agency and reading The Secrets of Mary Bowser a former slave who was also a spy during the civil war.

Recently finished reading Millenium Trilogy from Stieg Larsson... The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire, The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. The storytelling is masterful ... unfortunately Larsson passed away from a heart attack while on book 3.

Few weeks ago I finished Khaled Hosseini's And the Mountains Echoed.... (he's the author famous for The Kite Runner and a Thousand Splendid Suns). An interesting read And the Mountains Echoed...a bit slow but still a good book. Once again the story starts in Afghanistan and spans through a number of different characters all inter-related in one way or the other as the story goes on until it ended in Las Angeles USA.

Nowadays I'm finding it hard to find a good read...
