Re: POLL OF THE WEEK - Re-read?
I re-read The Tattooed Rood last year. First read it when I was around 13 y.o. The story was still spell binding as the first time I read it. Full of strong sexual content, the book takes you around the world...from Cuba to Morocco and make you experience the suffering and happiness of the characters.

That's a long time indeed. You probably take in the book differently as an adult than as a child.
I don't think I started reading books for pleasure until after college (when I finally wasn't forced to read them).
It was only Cliffs Notes before that.

Re: POLL OF THE WEEK - Re-read?
You know as poor as my family were, it was one thing we had...a huge library filled with books. We were encouraged from a very early age to appreciate literature... fiction/non-fiction & poetry. The Tattooed Rood at 13yrs may have been beyond my age. The book has a strong content as it portrayed male/male relationship in the Islamic world that also bordered on sexual dalliances... between men.
