kashief lindo i think did 'the first cut is the deepest'...but i think another reggae artist did a cover before that in the 70's;

and someone (bonnie rait or someone) did one recently

actually that is a cover, the producer was sued by charlie pride for it if I recall correctly it does rank as one of my favs, you want a BIG tune?

check out Marcia Griffiths and Daville "All my Life" If I'm correct Aaron Neville did the original.

UB40's cover is actually called... "(I Can't Help) Falling in Love With You":




Anyway, my favorite reggae cover tunes have are:

Keep On Movin' - a Bob Marley song covered by UB40

And "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)" again by UB40


Don't wanna waste ya time here. Jus' wanna share somethin' kewl I found.

I know most of you folks ain't Reggae fans. But there's some words of wisdom in Reggae. Here's an example - I'm only going to show you the intro of a song by the best British Reggae band ever - UB40:

It's influenced by the Caribbean saying: "Small Axe Cuts Down Big Tree" (somethin' like: "Impossible is nothing")
Now, I've been wonderin' what does this Caribbean saying have to do with a love song like "Here I Am (Come And Take Me)" - (Album: Labour Of Love II - 1990).
It turned out that UB40 had covered a Bob MARLEY song named "Small Axe". And Bob Marley had made a Biblical Reference in the song's lyrics:

"If you are the big tree,
We are the small axe
Sharpened to cut you down, (well sharp)
Ready to cut you down, oh yeah!"

Biblical Reference to Pslam 3:10 by Matthew:

And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
