That maybe because what it probable meant is "end of the Eon" or Age/Era which is approximately....26000 yrs.
We are now living in Modern times (the Western world), the Ancient World has ended.....for us*.

I don't kniw about Armageddon but I think soon (VERY SOON) you ae going to see the stock market plunge as it did in 2008 as people run to by gold.

This not an excuse but the time honored tradition of Ethiopian Christians from time immemorial.

I can't speak for the Christians (Millennialist) you are referring to, but on this point the Christian (dispensationalist) may be closer to the truth.......Millennium 1000yrs - dispensation a specific period of time.
That whole Tribulation (end times, rapture, armageddon) theology based on biblical eschatology is in my opinion a whole heap of ism & schism signifying nothing - in short six a one half dozen of the other.
The purpose of Tribulation theology is to scare you into their system of control



As for I man with plenty of respect for the bible, I hold to the idea of "WORLD WITHOUT END".....I&I is not religious.
