I run into a group who called them selves Hebrew Israelites. They told me the bible was only for Israel and it wasn't made for outsiders.
Well, if bible is for Israel only , why everyone have one in there house?
Because people need a crutch made up of fairytales and magic to make sense of life because for many life is hard and unfair. The Bible provides the promise of an afterlife where you will be rewarded and so it provides hope for the hopeless. It also plays well into the hands of the rich by keeping the poor satisfied and pacified so they (the poor) can continue to be exploited.
Is it any coincidence that the first printed book was a Bible? It is the most important book in order to keep the wealthy in their wealth while taking advantage of the poor.

because many of the books that make up "the holy bible" have messages that are universal and it is also the designated "holy book" of the christian religion-- probably the spiritual religion with the most adherents on earth...also a portion of it-- "the old testament" is also the "holy scriptures" of the jewish religion ("the torah")....
in reality it is directed toward the israelites but with the premise that the israelites would be a shining example to humanity based on the way they lived as a result of following "god"'s law....
many christians still lionize israel as "the holy land"...and in the minds of many christians it is they who have inherited the title as israel or "god's chosen"...
