..you have watched?

Lately, I watched <span style="font-weight: bold">Year One</span> . It was a biblical comedic display of the beginnings of life. From cavemen, to Cain and Abel, to Abraham and Issac, to Sodom and Gommorrah etc. I thought it was hilarious! . Some may find it offensive and a derision of the christian faith; so I would not recommend for everyone.

haki- bill maher is a die-hard atheist &amp; a comedian so you can imagine where he went with it...
i still think both the theists &amp; the atheists use flawed arguments whenever their positions are challenged...
some things are obvious, at least in my imperfect mind---
adam &amp; eve were not the first humans...moses did not part the red sea nor get stone tablets written by the hand of 'god'...
scientists have also researched our world and explained many things which are irrefutable fact...
but that said;

well, for example, the whole situation in the middle east.

i mean, you have nations who are actively seeking the power of nuclear weapons, who believe in magic rocks and flying horses.

in israel, one of the hot spots is the al aqsa mosque. i was shocked to find out why it is considered sacred to islam. it is the site on which mohammed- peace and blessings and all that be upon him- flew into town on a winged horse.

i mean...really? this is a rallying cry for a nail bomb shirt posse?

and it's not like the hebrews also don't have some heap of nonsense on their hands either, with the sabbath stuff, and maher goes into it pretty good with a company whose whole purpose is to like, work around the sabbath restrictions. they got some crazy [censored] contraptions.

so it's the year 2010 and why are our politics forcibly being informed by this mess of irrationality? then you have major elements of our government, I mean MAJOR, who are utterly incompetent to hold office and provably so, not to mention some of them are actively waiting for stuff like the rapture and everything.

i was speaking with a bredren of mine, we always shoot the shyte about politics, and I was like, hey do you know why the al aqsa mosque is such a hot spot? he had no idea. when I told him that, i mean...people believed this crap so forcefully they took down the WTC.

then i was saying, now that iran wants a nuclear weapon, I mean, that has to be stopped. no rational human, given the circumstances, could want for iran to have a nuke. pakistan has them, india...and look what they are about.

so I was saying, we should pick a place in Iran and go nagasaki on them, basically lay down an ultimatum and say, NO, sorry, you are not allowed to have nuclear weapons, and if you pursue it, we're gonna show you how serious we are about it, and nuke your desert just to show you we mean business and you have to desist now. and when the whole world goes apeshyte that we did that, all we have to say is look- these people believe in flying horses and magic rocks. I mean...what could anyone say to that.

then I remembered who we had in office for 8 years and it took all the teeth out of my argument. because there is NO way he should have had nuclear weapons either.

I saw Religilous the day it came out. I was in heaven. Loved the documentary. In fact, I watch Bill Maher's show all the time on HBO. Don't agree with everything but I love his candor.

A very entertaining well presented perspective.

I wish my former church would have shown that movie and debated it rather than just disregarding it as the devil trying to get a foothold on ones life. It makes me realize that there is really no real difference between all organized religions and a cult. When freedom to express and debate are frowned upon there is a problem IMHO.

until the day comes when man can create life from inanimate objects, he has no grounds on which to challenge 'god'...

man only <span style="font-style: italic">thinks</span> he has become more sophisticated on a whole...
the fact is disease &amp; death is still rampant...life spans are not much longer in many parts of the world than they were millennia ago...
we claim to know so much yet the earth is in worse shape than it was millennia ago...the food is worse; cancer is rampant...heart disease/diabetes/HIV/on &amp; on...what has all our so-called knowledge helped? we are in a rush to meet our own destruction...
science (genetically engineered) food can never compare to nature/&quot;god's&quot; food...even the most die-hard atheist must admit that man has never created foods which improved upon nature...
science should be used to create harmony between human and the environment through true knowledge...
not used as a means of challenging certain natural laws...
religion also says repent or die...

humans are lately half-heartedly trying to repent...with such notions as 'reducing carbon emissions'....or 'global warming'...'destruction of the rainforests'...'extinction of certain species'...and on &amp; on;

so sophisticated &amp; smart...yet not smart enough to know that earth is our home and should not be treated like a huge garbage dump or renta car...

i appreciate bill maher's intellect &amp; enjoy his show 'real time' more time...
he can become condescending &amp; smug sometimes, not to mention racist, but overall a clear thinker &amp; funny guy...

i dream of going on that show and facing him in debate/discussion...just to challenge certain notions he espouses on a regular basis;

he makes great logical points in the movie...but his brush is too broad in condemning religion...
yes much of it needs to be condemned, but much of it needs to be analyzed further also, as it contains many fundamental truths as well...

Believe it or not, on that raw level, I have been open minded enough to agree with that point of view.
Have you watched this movie-Year One? The script was certainly not written by a christian! Biblical is noted because they referenced biblical stories.

well a lot of what you are putting in there are rather non specific generalities.

but remember when you challenged the idea of the heart?

and lo and behold, science has made a better heart.

as to food, &quot;science&quot; DID create the food you eat, it created all the food you ever ate, because science IS nature. From time back as soon as we planted we began using the scientific method to create better and better crops.

we used science to kill our competition for our food- bugs, birds, etc., to protect our crops.

we used science to invent weapons to hunt, and constantly improve them. so to make a case for nature, is just a slippery slope. where do you want to draw the line? is hunting with a sling and sharp rock more natural than just dropping on the back of a deer from a tree branch and chewing it's throat out with our teeth?

so until that day man shouldn't say anything about what he has learned so far? that we have the genome? that we know for a fact what lines of descent are our own? where the ground is sandy is when you claim something supernatural, for origins, as I've logically explained before. something from nothing is not really a problem for science, it's a logical problem for GOD.

and anyway, that day is almost upon us my brother. then what?
