couple of oonu pointed out the photoshopping of some man face onto the creature in the van der Goes painting, but mi surprised (or maybe not
)nobaddy never comment on the creepiness of the original image.

the creature tempting eve is supposed to be a salamander with the head of a girl, whose hair has been braided at the top into the shape of two horns.
apparently, there is some long-standing mythology behind the use of a girl's face for such purposes, but danged if i could find any reference.
anyway, the reason for using a salamander shape is that apparently God cursed the snake to forever slither on the ground, so therefore, the snake must have had legs before. also, in mythology, salamanders were thought to be toxic, and that any tree dem touch the fruit would be poisonous.
