so, the firminy church took 41 years to build. it started, then stopped, then was practically in ruins till the French government declared it a heritage site and ponied up money to finish construction.
the great irony?
because government money was used to help build it, the church cannot actually be used as a church. the french are very serious about the separation of church and state. so the building is used as a kind of learning centre about corbusier.
