Well Revelations was probably caused by LSD from Barley.. Koran from inhaled fungal spores from the cave.. but then Robert the Bruce also said god spoke to him through a spider in a cave...though I must say I like the Koran for the single saying..

Very interesting, make more sense that "god" could be a product of the electrical activities of our brains.These scientific explanations are definitely more logical, than the myths passed down by middle eastern, cave dwelling, goat and sheep herders, in their "holy" books such as the bible and the Koran. </div></div>

i find this laughable at best...an electronic gadget can never be the key to finding 'god'...
one needs not to go outside of one's self in order to find 'god' as god is in every being...
i already know you (and most people) have an incorrect concept of what the 'bible' is...you consider it 'a book' when in reality it is a collection of many books written in different time periods by different authors...
question:
have you ever actually read "the bible"?
if so how much of it and if not how can you be qualified to bash something which you have very limited knowledge of...

the book of proverbs contains incredible gems of wisdom that i wish i would have followed more closely in my lifetime....

the book of revelations is actually incredible in its allegorical description of the final days & corruption of earth...powerful stuff

Brethren ,i am more than qualify to "bash" a( collections of books as you referrer to them as) the mere fact that the slave masters force this "book collection of books" on the ancestors by the barrel of a gun and the blade of a sword is sufficient for me to reject it.The bible is a good slave making tool, that is one of the reasons why Jamaica is the way it is now.We have our leaders having prayer breakfast etc waiting for the man in the sky to save from our economic misery.. wont happen.

As a youth growing up on the former slave plantation island called Jamaica, i had the "collections of books" shoved down I throat ,from basic school to Sunday school all the way to C.A.S.T.The sad thing i believe every word they though me, until at the age of about 22 i started to question these teachings.

I do not overstand every thing in the bible, but one thing is sure it is<span style="font-weight: bold"> NOT</span> the words of some supernatural being, as most believers would like us to think.Christianity as it is thought in the west is the perfect vehicle to control the masses,no wonder the roman empire adopted it as their official religion.

The little that i overstan, enlighten me to know that Yousha and JESUS are two different individuals, Yousha a possible revolutionary and Jesus a Greco Roman fabrication.

BTW as a ras maybe you can give me your opinion on Muta Baruka ,since he has evolved to a higher leve,l where he has basically accepted the reality that there is no supernatural, only natural .A lot a ras get vex with Muta even a call him atheist.Most of my views are along the same lines as Muta's, ie Garvey Africa etc.

One more ting, how yu a laaf after technology, when i guarantee you most of us humans living today(including you) would never trade places and return to the days of sheep herding and cave living. if i am correct, then why should modern humans live their lives guided by the words of middle eastern cave dwellers.

you are focusing your ire toward the bible instead of the people who mis-interpreted & mis-used it for their own purposes...the bible, as just about any extensive text, can be used to enslave as well as it can be used to liberate....
chris columbus used it to enslave while paul bogle used it to liberate...

it is a good slave making tool if used in that way...and it is one of the reasons that J-A is the way it is now but not the main reason...
j'cans don't follow the bible too much or we would not kill our own brothers & sisters in such high numbers...we are too amoral to claim any serious following of biblical thoughts & principles...jamaica's problems in my opinion are due more to self-hate & ignorance taught by our leaders..not the bible

and so did i...
until rastafari teachings liberated my mind from the comical interpretation of the bible which has been taught in jamaica---complete with white jesus picture-- a historical fallacy, yet clung to stubbornly by most jamaicans...
this is not the bible's fault as the bible more describes 'jesus' a melanated wooly-haired individual...it is the fault of our leaders who have refused to counter official white supremacy world policy & philosophy...

i tend to agree with mutabaruka along the same lines...i would have to think long & hard to think of any points he has made which i oppose...
i agree some ras have become western-christian-like in their thinking;
i'm still old school like when marley and tosh sang "sick and tired of the ism schism game, die and go to heaven inna jesus' name...we know and we overstand- almighty god is a living man"...
i reject sky heaven & underground hell, as true rasta doctrine teaches heaven & hell are earthly conditions...

In this regard, the current Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) administration has not departed from the approach by the previous People's National Party (PNP) administrations.

It is clearly a not unexpectedly 'ticklish' matter, as evidenced by the dispute at The Queen's School over the selection of a new headmistress. Or put another way, the failure to appoint the acting headmistress, on denominational grounds. The Queen's School is run by the Anglican Diocese.

This is by no means an isolated case, and even though church control of schools has been gradually diminishing, is not one which is going to disappear overnight. Similar problems have surfaced at Kingston College, another Anglican-run school, to cite a well known example.

In the present case, Ms Carole Jackson is said to have been passed over for headmistress for someone else, after acting for the last two years in the capacity, and previously serving as vice-principal for 10 years.

Protesters, though few in number, insist that Ms Jackson is fit and properly qualified for the job and claim that the decision is based on denominational considerations, because she is not of the Anglican persuasion.

We do not weigh into the issue to tell anybody what to do in resolving the dispute but moreso to draw attention to a matter which is likely to keep recurring in our scheme of democratic governance.

There is great sentiment on the side of the church because of its glorious past in bringing education to the Jamaican masses, long before the government could.<span style="font-size: 17pt"> Hence, there is reluctance to break with hallowed tradition in which many churches still have a big say in how schools, even when financed by the State, are run.</span>

There are hundreds if not thousands of West African religions, yet you would be hard pressed to find any bible or Koran believer, who will give iota of respect to them.Fact is, these middle eastern religions make it a part of their duty to bash any religion which is not their own.As a Jamaican you should that Christians in Jamaica have nothing but disdain for west African religions, and the Ras dem, get dem fair share of bashing from the churches.The Muslims and the Christians both went in Africa and tried their best to destroy the the indigenous religions ,so why should a enlighten African ,have any respect for these middle eastern religions, when they have little or no respect for west African religions?

you are right that the major "middle eastern" religions' practitioners usually display a level of arrogance & chauvinism toward others --- many times stating their way/faith is the only way for all humanity...
but we must also acknowledge that a lot of people in west africa, and by extension - the caribbean & north america & south america --- may claim christianity & islam but still mix it with the old indigenous religions/ faiths-- as in the santeria in cuba & latin america, or the sufi muslims in west africa who wear locks...
yes rastafari have been & continue to be bashed by the powers that be...
but that is to be expected in a world controlled by the beast..the beast is fully aware that ras is a staunch enemy who denounces him at every turn...also the beast runs jamaica, so he will never welcome ras with open arms in their big associations, caw ras a bun out dem corruption...that includes pnp & jlp & the church associations & all the other "official" groups who carry hatred & scorn for I n I...
i can overstand the (sometimes justified) feeling of hostility toward christianity & islam & judaism...
most of the time it is the incorrect or unrealistic & fanatical interpretation of their holy books or misuse of certain scriptures which has created the problem, not the religions themselves-- as religion is just one sect's view of the world & human nature wondering how it all started & what does it all mean...people must realize that some things in the books are allegory, visions, dreams, etc. & not try to make it into something literal if it was not intended to be...they must also use their own intelligence; not in thinking that the entire spectrum of life can be contained in any one "book"

i have to admit you make a powerful point...

not that i agree that the "church" has no role in the upbringing of the youth of the nation...my contention is more with what <span style="font-style: italic">type</span> of 'church'...
the church as presently constituted in J-A has little moral authority to shape young minds..as they stand now they are only teaching the youth that blacks are inferior heathens who need the white man's holy guidance (white jesus--that portrait graven image should be banned in jamaica) to make it in the world; the results of this type of philosophy are on display in that the youth have rejected it and are presently trying to bring thuggery, killing, public display of lewdness (daggerin) & general ill-manner to a new art form...
a nation must realize that their religion must work toward strengthening their nation & their people...the popular interpretation of christianity in jamaica has failed miserably---they need to resurrect garvey whenever the country can manage to unseat the beast;
