Good question.
That seems like a reasonable assumption OR just as reasonable is that some race did arise, did evolve and became the non-corporeal intelligences Kurzweil envisions.
Those beings would not have much in common with us at this our early stage of that possible future. We would be like ants are to people; too primitive to be of interest to a super intelligence.
