The allegory is actually limited to 'eating of the tree&quot;.
The rest is actually literal. Incidentally the directive was, &quot;Do not eat of the tree of the know of good and evil. Only eat of the tree of life.

Is It that you believe that there is or was a real physical &quot;tree of Knowledge&quot; and a talking serpent?

I do not think it is meant to be taken literal......do you?

In any case what do get from it? </div></div>

If its not a literal story, it is then a very basic story about limits and the consequences of the disobedience regarding those limits. Same as if they exceeded the speed limit on a modern highway and got caught by highway patrol.

The Serpent - Mans creative impulse or Genius
Eve - Feminine and intuitive aspect
Adam - Masculine and instinctive aspect

It takes COURAGE to upset or leave that which one is use to, often times it is usually as a result of GROWTH and a search for INDEPENDENCE
