Well not for de rasta dem anyway since they did find Selassie I 's body a while ago .

But what of the Christian Easter ?

According to the Christians, Christ was sent by God to die for our sins and he was crucified and died BUT......he returned to life a few days later so he didn't really die for all our sins did he?
It was more like he departed for a few days or was unconscious for that time before he along with a great many others long dead and buried arose and walked around the Holyland like a scene from Dawn of The Dead.
(Yes, this was alleged to have happened )

Tough stuff to believe.

easter is simply the continuation of old legends involving the death & resurrection of the divine figure....
easter is the christian religion's take on the same ancient theme, known in ancient nile valley civilizations as heru (horus), ase (isis) and asra (osiris)...

where the divine figure, like the sun, traverses the sky triumphantly until he is overcome by the forces of darkness (symbolized by the sun going under- nightime-- darkness--- only to rise again in the new day-- the morning and reign once again-- the resurrection---

it takes place in springtime--april-- due to the earth being in a phase of renewal...rebirth;

the sad part is when folks take it to mean the literal revival of the actual physical flesh of a man they call jesus who was killed in the earthly plane

You left out the word "crash" after the word "plane" and Jesus didn't need an "earthly plane", he could fly without one.

Easter never had anything to with jesus, but pastors too lazy to do the research just keep regurgitating the same story every year and tell the ppl not to think, just beLIEve it.

And Christopher Hitchens rightly said that rather than accept the torture and death of an eccentric preacher in the primitive Middle East, were we there, we should have done all we could to prevent that torture and death of this man.

There is symbolism and there is reality .

There is myth and there is reality .


The reality is that many people who offended or threatened the state were crucified and in public places to set an example of what happens to those who oppose authority .

it is passing strange that many religious people believe that now to oppose the will of THEIR celestial dictator will also result in severe punishment that not only punishes you as the Romans did while you were alive and until you were dead, but as Hitch put it "after Jesus meek and mild appeared on the scene", even after death and for an eternity in Hell.

I see no spirituality in any of this man-made nonsense.

Jesus <span style="font-weight: bold">did not</span> authorize the celebration of EASTER! In Matthew 28.20 He told his disciples to OBSERVE what he has commanded. Easter is a creation by a body that has nothing to do with Christ. <span style="text-decoration: underline">&quot;The Catholic mob aka church!</span> Same goes for Christmas, Ash Wednesday Good Friday etc.

Therefore those who Celebrate Easter,Christmas et al. are not keeping with the command in Matt 28:20.

All true.

When you think about it, all the mumbo-jumbo rituals of many churches are all rites and ceremonies created entirely by men and have no connection with anything in the Bible nor any supposed word of God.

Same for all the sexual proscriptions, the food prohibitions, the misogyny.

A story on this mornings NPR said that 90% of the women in Egypt had undergone FGM (female genital mutilation ) which seems to be popular in misogynist Islamic societies .

God and Allah never said to do any such thing.
It is man attempting to control women and nothing more.
