Reminds me of the Great African American writer/poet James Baldwin who said

"If the concept of God has any use,It is to make us larger,freer,and more Loving.....If God can't do that it's time to get rid of him"

I respect your non-belief. But your argument suggests you could only believe in a god who would do your bidding, no? You're in great company as the where-is-God-when-there-is-injustice is an age-old question and dilemma. Jeremiah 12:1 is quite powerful in expressing injustice in the presence of God. (I don't know the answer to this dilemma and I won't insert any long arguments on this topic from the Internet either.)

I think James Baldwin is right. The concept of God should make us larger, freer, and more loving .... and we should get rid of our own god or gods -- be they ideas or things or feelings -- that make us smaller, more enslaved, and more hateful.

The fact that he Zimmerman got away with murder is one thing but to hear the Parents of Trayvon say they will pray for GZ and thanking God for using them and their son as a vehicle so this wont happen to another family made me laugh

But what if that is their belief? What if, at this moment of sheer grief, that is what they choose to believe in doing? What if they choose to be gracious at this time? What if they are right?

I don't think they are happy. Back to James Baldwin - The concept of God should make you larger, freer, and more loving. I happen to like that and I suspect that is what God calls us to be. Even in the Christian bible, I don't see where God tells humans that belief will make them happy. Quite the opposite in fact.

God is not limited to humans' simplistic views of who He is. Most of what passes as Christianity these days seem to make God into some kind of ATM machine where believers expect to get out what they put in. That is so wrong and it mocks God. God will not be mocked.

And so for Trayvon's parents, they seem to have transcended the Christianity treacle that is out there. They know pain. They know injustice. And in spite of that, they seemingly choose to be free and loving in spirit. The spirit knows.

I agree with you regarding the English translation of Hebrew scripture. English is a rather limited language and when you have limited people working in a limited language on the daunting task of translating ancient texts, you are going to get some wrong interpretation along the way. For example, ancient texts had many names for God: el Shaddai, Eloi, Eloim (plural) Emet, Hakadoth, etc. I can just see those translators scratching their heads and, not know what to write, simply write down what they expected people to read.

God is who God is. She said "I am that I am" or just simply, I AM, according to the ancient Hebrew text. Now don't freak out when you see the word "Hebrew." It's not what it has come to mean given our revised history

Even in this source of scripture - and all others - God is not limited to space and time. As I see it, this is what Jesus came to radicalize. So I don't wrong Trayvon's parents. And I don't judge their reaction to the unjust verdict. At this time, they chose to be larger, freer, and more loving than what the media expects. I don't know if their reaction is wrong or right or there to appease or displease anyone. I only sense that they are being led by the Spirit, by the I AM, by The Truth.
