Dog Vs. Cats

I was raised with cats and love them for their traits that are almost undog like(independence, cute little bodies etc). Dogs still scare me somewhat because of their size and turn me off because they require walking and so much grooming.

What are the real benefits of dog ownership? Is it true that Dogs are more affectionate, smart and loyal?

They both have their drawbacks and their benefits. I prefer dogs I think, they are lots of fun and not so stoosh

the dogs dem too licky licky (literally) and nuff

but i could have one as a pet (if forced)

(i wont mention again the traumatic dog biting incident that took place when i was a child )

Cats (de puss dem) are way cleaner than dogs.
Get up close and smell a dog (no, not their batty) and then smell a cat.
Big difference.

Cats are always cleaning themselves and their saliva has a detergent quality to it that makes cat not smell at all. They also bury their feces but dogs just leave it everywhere.

Dogs are pack animals and are always subservient (if properly trained) to their owners. Cats have no masters and that is the big difference between a cat and a dog.

As the saying goes: &quot;Dogs have masters, cats have staff&quot;

If you hit a dog when it misbehaves, the dog learns not to do whatever it was that got it hit.
If you hit a cat when it misbehaves (according to human standards) the only thing it accomplishes is to teach the cat that you are crazy and liable to hurt them for no reason they are capable of understanding.

People who feel that they must be obeyed and need a pet they can order around should have a dog.

People who want to live with a cat have to like cats for what they are and take the time to understand a cat's basic natures and then coexist/ learn to live with, deal with those behaviours.

in other words, a dog can adapt to human nature but a cat cannot and will not.

Any dog owner who later decides to keep a cat as a pet has to remember this one thing:
A cat is NOT a dog.

I have a traumatic dog biting incident, It didn't happen to me but to someone I know. This was a dog that was very familiar with him as well. It bit off a part of the boys face without being provoked. He was like 8 or 9 at that time too.

cats stink! my daughter had a thing for bringing cats home that she'd never take care of. i ended up taking care of them they would do really obscene things on my suede boots in the closet

i found a cat when i would a teen. my auntie had that cat for 17 years. it was totally doted on like a child. she cried when it died. i had to dispose of the body for her, she was so shook up. but Tiny was an amazing cat. Tiny ate better than a lot of people, sad to say.

then i had the poodle. they're very smart dogs!.

i only Foster &lt;--- tee hee hee. inside joke - a dog part time.


but if i were to get a dog, i'd want a jack russell or other small breed that looks like a dog. not one of those accessories

we have two cats. they have their ways, but can be very affectionate. one of our pusses has a defective burying-her-poop gene, she poops in the the litter box then scratches at the side of the box to &quot;cover&quot; her poop. only thing i can figure is that she's too fastidious and doesn't like her paw in litter. she also poos beside the litter box if i don't clean it fast enuff. \o/

the other puss, the one who murdered my birds, she's too efficient - as soon as i clean the litter box she goes in, pees, then uses her big paws to shovel the litter over her pee spot, except she ends up spilling lots of litter over the side of the box.

both birds are efficent hunters of starlings in warm weather, and also of field mice, judging by the number of such poor dead creatures i find near my doorstep.

Well, I am not really an animal lover,(would never illtreat an animal) but have 3 big dogs (for protection) and to alert us when them other four foot critters are close as I live a bush or boonies. They are outside all the time, those size dogs cannot abide in my house, even though some peeps out here have them inside them house.....to each his own.

Their quarter are heated, plus around here dog walkers and cleaners make a mint of money. They come pick up your dogs in them van take them out for walks or runs also clean their space, take them to the vet. and yadayada

They (the dogs) tolerate me and me keep out of their space. They are not pets, they are guard dogs me would not think of petting them prolly loose me fingers. The walkers are trained as such and know how to flex with the dogs.

Plus, anyone out here that allow them dog to run loose asking for trouble, this is bear country and Bears have been known to attack dogs, rarely but it happens. Now the coyotes and wolves will just go after anything that moves especially small dogs.

Funny the dogs gravitate and seem to love my Granpere when him visit, he goes into their space and them wag them tails, lawd me always expect them to nyameth him up, me go near them space and is the dead pan stare me get <span style="font-style: italic">shiver</span> if they smell my fear.

Ehmmmm, me cannot abide cats, gets me really annoyed when they rub up against me
