I buy a 20 lb box of multi flavored small sized puppy biscuits about once a month in winter. They only cost about 25.00 for the whole box and I get a LOT of mileage out of them. For one thing, I give them a few each time they come in from going out potty. They know this is waiting for them so they go out, do their business and come running back to the door for their "cookies". You say the word "cookie" around here and it gets pretty loud! Anyway, they are very small biscuits and a good quality, not the cheap 1.99 a bag junk food ones from places like walmart. Hardly any of my dogs is overweight. A couple get pretty round in winter but it isn't a treat problem it is a no exercise problem!
In summer when the dogs are out in the shop/kennel building and their indoor/outdoor runs I buy butcher bones like cow leg and knuckle. I boil the fat off them and let them have at it. It's like little kids at Christmas, and very affordable to do. They last the whole summer and then some! I don't recommend this for in the house until the dogs have had them for awhile and the grease is long gone.
Rawhide..I do give my small dogs rawhide chips but I don't really recommend it. This is a dog by dog basis thing. If you have a dog that goes really wild over the rawhide chips they can get too excited and choke if they swallow a big piece.
Whenever the farrier would leave from trimming my horse hooves, I used to gather up the trimmings and throw them to my dogs. Oh they love those! Next best thing to that is the cow hooves you can buy ready to give. Those don't gross me out at all. I like to buy the hollow ones
Pigs ears...well, the dogs love them but it is another summer thing here. Large dogs can make short work of the pigs ears but my small dogs kinda like to bury them here and there...
yes, another warm weather outside treat!
I don't do lamb's ears that is too sad.
Have any of you bought pizzles treats? I was living a sheltered life and had never even seen them but they sell like hotcakes at the grooming shop! Pizzle is goat or cow and the dogs go wild. I must say, this is another outside treat!

I totally draw the line at pig snooters! NOT EVEN outside! I don't even want to post a pic of them, that is really gross.
So, what are the things that you buy to give to your dogs as treats?
Here is a link to a treat page to choose from.
