they know i favour one for certain tasks and the other for other tasks.
what i do know they know is if I am giving treats, they count to make sure they both get equal size & amount oddawise dem gi mi dutty looks

Well waaaaaay back in tha day
I had a cat named Princess
and she was how I picked my dog Lady that I had for 12 years.
Princess was a kitten and my SIL's sister came up from the island (vancouver Island) with a litter of puppies for me to pick from. I couldnt pick as they were all so cute. They spent the whole evenng and at one point we were all sitting around chatting and ting and I look over and there in one corner was Pricess and this dog all snuggled up together sleeping
That was the dog I chose. Princess was all black
and Lady was all white (with an apricot ear)
Did I have a fav...can't say that I did. They each had things about them that I prefered but that's what made them who they were.

sometimes i see <span style="text-decoration: line-through">mad puss </span> molly looking at me...and i get paranoid that she knows something.
she's come a long way (hasn't scratched little beans, hissed at me etc in a while
).. but my relationship with the other puss was smooth and problem free from the beginning.

I struggle with this daily!
YES I have favorites and the non favorites as well as the favorites know it! However, I spread the love as evenly as I can and it is quality time for all, not just time.
The attention does not get spread around according to favorites in my house though.
The elders who need lots of extra care are number 1.
Young dogs who need to learn all things that make a puppy into a well mannered socialized pet are the same priority as the elders. Actually the elders are great to group puppies with because the puppies learn about pack order right quick with the old timers! I do this with my litters when I breed.
I usually group the times spent with old and young batched together so as to be able to dole out the fun to the ones in the middle all at once.
Then there is the Dobergirl who is 10, and the Standard Poodle puppy who is going on 1 year. I would never break Rosebud's heart by showing Paris more attention. I dole that out equally.Comment

Boy it would be hard to pick a favorite out of my two! Both of them have their own personalities and cute little mannerisms. Henry is a leach.....a big mama's boy. Dottie is a little more independent. I must say I love them both the same. However, my old cat that died last year she was my absolute favorite kitty.Comment
