Last week I was wanting to get a "Rez" dog, maybe something around 4 months old or so. Well, you know what they say- "be careful what you pray for!".... "She" came up to me and decided to adopt me as I was coming out of a meeting up at the pueblo. Rez dogs are like identical to Jamaican dogs. Within 36 hrs. I've already managed to wreck this one. Meet "Rosebud"
Yeah, well Nooks...I've already know who's being trained. The carpet pissing stopped the minute I left the door open for her to come and go. I was so afraid she'd run into the neighbors yard I felt I needed to keep tabs ALL THE TIME! ...was I wrong!
Everytime I leave her alone she goes and curls up on the couch. (go figure) The two times she did leave the yard was when I watched her too closely. So I think she's up to the task of training me! ...but I'm an "old dog", you know. ...and thanks Sevey...I haven't kept up much lately on what's going on boardlanewise....so next I'm going to check for the posts on your newest fambly member before I ask any stupid questions about how it's working out
Tuesday was a heartbreaker. Sammydog got in 3 good days of training the new pup, and then was ready to "check out". We went to the vet at 5pm. The tumor in her side had gotten so godawful painful for her...but she was a trooper. Total grace to the end.
RIP little Sammy Now mi a bawl. I am so sorry (((LB&TDude))) It is so hard when they go. If it helps at all, I do remember many times hearing that they really do want to know you will not be alone when they leave us. I've read it about guide dogs for the blind and other times. They seem to want to know that it is Ok for them to go. I thin Sammy knew that because she knew you would have the new baby to keep you busy. Now I gotta go get a kleenex..
Yeah Nooks...I was in tears on and off all day. Sammy needed us to give her permission to leave, and that what was what made it so tough. I swear, two times in the last month she walked out to the road with the intention of getting hit. She was no dummy, and always very consious.... <span style="font-style: italic"> that</span> really got to me. Then, on the last day she went into the bedroom and layed down at LB's foot on the side which left the tumor side exposed for LB to feel. She never laid that way before. A lot of times it's revealed to me that they're smarter than we are...if I keep my mind open. The Pup has already made a fool of me twice...but in a loving way. All I could do is laugh...cuz to punish her would have shown my stupidity. She was just trying to show me how smart she really was...and it blew me away!
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
