No. My dog goes to day care only once a week, if that. Mr. Gungo works from home most times and when he has to go into the office and the house cleaners have to come by, the dog cannot be around.
He is very sociable but can be rumbunctious and cleaners will charge me extra if he is in their way.
On days when I can, I take him to the doggie park so he can play with other dogs. Cannot tell my family that either

Why can't you tell them?
Do you HAVE to tell them?
What will/can they do about it?
They can't take away your birthday!
Daycare is a wonderful place to take your dog, and about the sleeping pawt...remind them about 3 dog night! (is when is so cold it takes 3 dawg to keep you warm! The expression came about by mushers on the tundra).
Anyway, good luck with your family. Is there a reason you have to tell them things that you think will upset them?Comment

I am fortunate in that my mother loves dogs, possibly even more than I do and my pa although he declares he does not, in fact does. Funny to sneak up on him and catch him in the act of giving affection! This is a good thing too, as i was a dog and horse crazy kid growing up and I was never discouraged!

My immediate Jamaican family are all all animal lovers and are very cool about my dog.
The cousins, etc. ... not so much. They visit. They lived. They have more stuff to talk about when they get back to Ja. and meet up with other family. Meh.Comment

Yeah, I do understand...this brings back a memory of when my friends husband and son's first came to Minnesota. I'm not sure I have ever heard anyone laugh so hard as when my friends husband talked about seeing so many dogs riding in cars. They just could get over that anyone would actually let the dog enter the vehicle at all, let alone have it a regular thing!
There is a movie out that the name escapes me right now but there was a dog starring in it and it was always in the car. Lemme try and think of the name or maybe someone else will beat me to it. Anyway, the movie is funnier than heck and might be a good ice breaker on the subject!Comment

Yu know what, my mother had the typical Jamaican attitiude about dogs and cats for the longest time. but it was all talk 
I brought home this puppy I got from a classmate one time, poor thing was worm infested and a real runt. at the time I was boarding out in Kgn so I left the dog home with Mommy and frighten to see how she love up an spoil that mongrel in two weeks the pup was double the size 
AND sleeping in the house she said the adult dogs were bullying her
Same thing when one of the rotties would have a litter is my Mom would take care of them the whole time grumbling about dog this and dog that Mommy
