Pee Pee Pants

Maybe someone can give me help here. My 8 month old pup is having trouble learning that she can't pee in the house.
She has trouble learning how to hold up.
Its not an every time occurrence, its just an excited one.

Whenever she sees Razz the older and larger dog in the morning, before I can get her out she pees.. when my daughter comes home from work, same way. When we have company same way.

I'm here all day and she is let outside numerous times. But won't pee unless I walk down the deck stairs with her or I go outside with her. I've never had this problem with any of my dogs sooooo I'm stumped on this one.

I've put her out when company is coming or before my daughter comes in the house....I hope its just a learning kinda thing.....Nanook?

Cesar would ask visitors (or the daughter in this case) to enter home and <span style="font-weight: bold">ignore </span>the dog... their entry makes her excited, and their attention increases that excitement. My little one is having the same problem when my son or his girlfriend come in - they now ignore Flip, and the results are much better.

Ignoring and not feeding the excitement should help alot.

This is your pup, right Nancee? Lot's of times the girls will do the excited pee until they fully grow up. Usually they grow out of it but I've seen some that do not.

Other times I've seen it is during submission. They just lose control.

Is this new or has she always done it? If it just started there could be a bladder infection, or if she has gone though a heat cycle there could even be pyometra. I guess if she suddenly started doing it I'd prolly have a vet check for infection.

But if it has always happened then it might be a puppy thing and she just hasn't developed the muscles yet to hold in all the excitement. Is there another alternative to her seeing the other dogs before she can get out the door in the morning?

Will she go out into the yard with another dog to show her the way and bolster her courage? I'd be hesitant to go down the stairs with her and &quot;feed the need&quot; for you to be with her all the time outside. This could turn into a problem should you want to go on vacation or if for any other reason someone else had to come and let them out for you.

Maybe you could get her to wear one of the doggie sanitary napkins like for when they are in heat season. That might actually help a lot, because if she pees she'll soil herself it will not feel good to her at all...and she might work extra hard to not do that.

Yes its the pup we got back in February. When we introduced her to Razz she yelped and was scared to death of him in the first day, maybe because he was so much bigger than her. Now she just wants to be with him and play.

I always get her outside in the morning before she sees Razz so that helps. Not going down the stairs with her sometimes, she won't go and then ends up letting go in the house. I'm trying to develop that habit of going it alone.

Its a real and I mean REAL submission thing between her and Razz, she automatically turns and lays down (upside down) and exposes herself when she sees him after a few hours. I've never seen that sort of submission thing before.

She's been spayed so its not that.

I'll encourage my daughter not to pay attention to her when arriving home but she really doesn't go overboard with her when entering the house.

And I'm hoping, like you said that its the growing process

OK since it can't be pyometra, I would try the santi panty. If she soils that and it ends up on her she might try harder. It definitely sounds like a submission thing!

I have dogs that roll over for me like that sometimes...and puppies will do it for adult dogs to show them submission. When she does it I would definitely ignore her and not feed into it. She is just a baby though, so it's normal. She will be a baby for a long time to come, up to 2 years even! Wait till the teenage stage (where Paris is, and we still have go-arounds!).
