Breed Specific Legislation ***warning**** graphic pictures

Altho it started with Denver, Colorado and its ban of pitbulls, today was posted pictures of pets taken from their homes and euthanized because of the ban in Denver.
These are peoples pets, not strays taken off the streets.

Its gone beyond Pit Bulls. Elgin, IL wants to ban Boxers, Shepherds, Rotties, and Dobermans. Write! [email protected]

This is what happens when we sit by and do nothing when a law is passed. Figuring this could never happen here...or let someone else take care of it. These people are playing GOD. This is so sad..................

It goes so deep once you delve into it all. Figure who supports PETA. I used to love Bill Maher. Not any more! Dig deeper and you never know what you will find!

What is dangerous is what some people do with the breed. It's the people that are dangerous!

Pit Bulls are wonderful, loving creatures. I know several of them and they are very nice dogs. They have a bad rap the same way that Dobermans used to and the same way German Shepard's did before that. I'm here to tell you that after 35 years of being owned by Dobermans they are the biggest babies on the planet. Let them try to legislate them around here!

numbers don't lie...out of all dog attacks that have left ppl either severely maimed or dead, pitbulls account for the majority. and temperament has little to do with it. if any other dog is feeling pist they will bite you but not maim or kill you. if a pit is pist it will go all out for the kill.

rottis are next in line...even tho i must admit i like them and they are much less represented in bite reports than pitbulls...

I have trauma surrounding Rottweilers. A huge one pinned me up against the lifelines of a sailboat once. I tried to shake him off, but the more I tried, the harder he humped.

Skelly Pit bulls and certain other dogs have a bad reputation because of THE OWNERS not because of the dog (watch the dog ceaser have name Daddy )

Owners allow the dog to be vicious attack dogs and yes they have the physical parts to cause major damage (the big strong jaws that lock) but if they are properly trained and raised you would have no issues.

There are other dogs that have a gentle reputation that can be much more dangerous than a pit bull. But because they are raised different you don't have as many violent attacks happening. Akita is one and Chow is another dog that is prone to turn on a person and maul them more likely that a pitbull.

Shoot I used to own a bichon/yorkie cross and that dog up and attacked this HUGH biker guy that tried to pet her. My saving grace was that 1) she was small and 2) she had a major under bite so her teeth never broke skin. But she bite that man right in his crotch (only caught pants thank god) but when I say my life flashed before my eyes believe me it did.

She also bit one of my nieces friends on the nose and another kid riding a skate board.

If I had raised a pitbull the way I raised that dog I would be in a whole lot of mess.

My point is (as I ramble) that breed Bichon and Yorkie is not a vicious breed....but because of how I raised my dog she became that way (over protective)

Rothweiller me have three...and am telling yu they will even eat each other. They are <span style="font-weight: bold">guard dogs </span>(well mine)very territorial bout dem space. A four legged critter got onto out property once at night through a busted fence and gawdddd :whoaa: shredded it in no time.

They will leave the 2 footed animal alone (man) and make a bee line straight for the kill for another four foot critter. If I see someone walking a pitbull I instinctively cross to the other side, dont want to find out if they were raised the right way or not, plus out where I am people shoot first and ask question lata if you dawg act anyway menacinly toward them. My step dad is a hunter (him hobby him say)

The hunters out here know better than to take dem dawg go bush with them another hunter could <span style="font-weight: bold">mistakenly</span> shoot it...

Tanyer I never knew bichon?yorkie cross could be vicious they always seem so even tempered, but as you say how raised so think them protecting you. Sound more like jealousy to me

Consider that terrier breeds were bred to be ratters. They don't just chase and catch the rodents but rip their little heads off and then usually eat them. Most toy breeds are bred down versions of dogs with origins bred to kill. That is why most toy breeds are so feisty!

Some of the larger breeds are bred up bigger versions of terriers. I don't know all breed origins but using Dobermans, for example...Manchester Terriers are in there somewhere, as well as in the German Pinscher. Now, Manchester terriers are also part of the backround for Miniature Pinschers. You should see what a MinPin does to a rabbit when they catch one! Holy murder!!!

Pit Bulls have terrier origins.

Anyway, there are no bad dogs, just bad owners.

pit bulls were <span style="font-weight: bold">bred</span> specifically to be harmful dogs. the amount of children that have been killed and mauled by them is appalling.

they don't belong in any urbanized area. i disagree with taking away people's pets and killing them.

what they did here was ban them but grandfathered a clause where if you already had one you could keep it, just not any new ones. they also have to be muzzled in public.

also people were breeding them in their homes and selling puppies for $500. when i went to the animal shelter once, the place was full of them.

Down here in Taos everybody's got pitbulls, or a mix....and none of them are on leashes, and I've yet to find one that isn't super friendly. Some sort of atmospheric anomaly goin on here.

thanks Stormmey...The neighbor's followed me into the house the other day. I'll try to remember....but sometimes I have trubble remembering my <span style="font-style: italic">phone number.</span> What's goin on Feb 29? (is there one this yr?) Some sort of wierd Pitbull celebration, or do I have to watch out for other stuff too....like hijackings?
