eating habbits

soh mi buy wan "Performatrin natural lamb meal and brown rice formula - adult nutrition" fi di dawg. him won't eat ie. i definitely can't eat it. the only thing he's eaten is about 12 "Milk bone mar-o snacks" that i keep in my pockets on walk.

do i have a dying dog on my hands? so far he's never been one of those dogs that just gluts down the food in one session. he seems happy enough.

maybe he doesn't like this new food? he was on the "Pedigree vitality+" before, but mi neh wah cyarry di big bag.

my dogs started turning up their noses at dried food when they got older. Also, my brother would feed em prime rib scraps when I visited and that was all she wrote! I've mixed canned food in with dried, but that get expensive. Some of that stuff looks better than people food.

i've not tried him on the canned food. but he loves when i drain the tuna oil over the vitality+ that he didn't mind eating.

Dogs can be trickier than we give em credit for. Once my cocker spaniel was acting half dead, to the point I'd have to carry him upstairs...lift him in the truck, etc. I took him to the vet and after the examination the vet told me he was &quot;faking it&quot;.
So I started watching him and damn if I didn't catch him jumping over a log chasing a bird!
That one cost me $150. The dog was smarter than I was. He started &quot;playing it&quot; with food too. I think I gave him too much attention!

basically it is wetting &amp; flavoring the food. sometimes i use 1/4 bouillon cube with hot water, melt it, cool it and mix it in the 2 dog bowls.. It works..

Now they expect something in their bowl besides just dog food .. dem all kick the bowl if nuttin special in it

Sue, did you make the switch cold turkey?

If so, it tends to work better when you wean the dog off the old food and onto the new food. For instance, start with 3/4 old food and 1/4 new food. After a few days, go to 1/2 to 1/2, etc.

I always try to give some variety...just like we like it so do the dogs. I tend to think they get tired of eating same ol..same ol....they get bored with it..... I stew chicken with carrots. Break up some of the meat and put the broth and carrot in. Sometimes egg half cooked. Sometimes ground turkey cooked. Whatever is on sale. I stew turkey thighs too. Veggies are good for them, frozen and cooked
The broth will help tho.......
I tried the Rachael Ray dog food because its all natural and I had a coupon for it. The dogs went cookoo over it. I mix that in once in awhile with their regular food (Iams)

yes bink i did go cold turkey. thanks for the tip nanceejay. i tried cooking some food for him with disastrous results. let's just say i pretended to scoop after the poop

we're talking a deluge of filth here. so home cooked foods are not good for him.

Flavour it with the stuff he likes.
Just slather it over it.
