On Monday, close to noon, I walked out to my car, heading to Mo Bay to do some business & saw that my car had been vandalized, what the heck, in my own yard!!!!
Next to the front wheels, on both side of the car, the plastic wheel guard had been torn off and several small pieces of the car. The wheel guard was laying about 4 feet from the car. I put down my bag, and my spirit took s nose dive.
I live in a private yard, far from the road & never, ever would have thought that someone would have come in & done this.
I called the owner of the property & told him what had happened. He said that he was not in the area, so he could not come up and look at it. As well as the parts that were taken off, there were many, 1/4" deep gashes in the fender, like someone had taken the side of a machette and hacked at it.
So I called the police to report it, wanting to make sure that who ever did this would know that I take this attack seriously, so a police report had to be made.
Unexpectedly, about 1/2 an hour later my landlord showed up with another man. They looked at the damage, examining it carefully, and saying they just don't know why someone would do such a thing. Then just as we were discussing how I was feeling uncomfortable about this attack, we noticed, marks that resembled bite marks. It was determined that a large dog, that lives up the hill, possibly a Rottweiler had come down and done this. He explained to me that this time of year, the dogs come around looking to kill goats and they for some reason decided to eat away at my car, it had happened in the area before. Holy Crude, I thought, I asked are you sure it wasn't a bear, heck, the teeth marks were deep & the jaw span was huge?
Then 2 police offers showed up, with an inspector, I greeted them, thanked them for coming and told them that it has been determined that the damage was done by a dog. They said, yes that happens often this time of year. Then they said, just want to make sure you're safe, if you need us anytime, just call.
Wow, I was in shock for hours, couldn't believe it. I thought back that possibly in the night, when we were having a huge rain storm, that maybe one of my cats got under my car for shelter and then the BEAR-DOG showed up and tried to catch one of my cats.
Who knows, just another Jamaican story to add to my long list of interesting things that happen, in Jamaica.
