Good luck in finding pitbulls in Jamaica.
The best source of infirmation for good dogs in Jamaica is through a local vet.
Especially restricted breeds like pitbulls.
They have to be smuggled in the country.
Since jamaica is very strict about dogs imported from anywhere except Britain.
And pits are primarily US bred.

I think a few are there,but you are unlikely to get true blood lines. If you are so concerned about the safety of your girl, why not invest in a home security system? Then just buy a yappy yappy house dog to alert her when something is amiss.

Where did you get this idea of a pitbull from? Jamaican source? I would be surprised since there are so many watch dogs available in Jamaica - many people I know have German Shepherds and/or Rottweilers - there are breeders who fashion these dogs for protective services.

From what I understand from someone that visits the island frequently, pitbulls are everywhere. Chained to front yards.
Soon we will be hearing of fighting etc as a way to make $$.

Two years ago I saw one running around BCC that belonged to the one of the owners son. After speaking with him I came to understand that there are more of them on the island than people realize.

They are also shown at the dog show in Sav every year at Hotel Comingle.


As a pitbull advocate and rescuer there are many concerns I have re: the back yard breeding and the amount of pitbulls that are put to sleep in shelters daily because of the irresponsible people that continue to breed them for the almighty dollar.

I love Pits. with the right owners they can be great dogs.


You could check if Montego Bay animal Haven has any pit mix puppies. They will have puppies for sure.

Welll everyone it is like this...I want the Pit for me...I have pits I love pits and I am looking for one...many people have added their 2 cents about all kinds of stuff...all I was looking for was info on where to find one....now home security I already have dog I do not....I am not interested in any other kind of dog since I have 2 pitts now and have had pitts for about 18 years ...so I do know lots more then most of ya about them and I have made my mind up already...they are GREAT dogs if raised properly...since I am here and there yes my girl would also be taking care of it and yes it would be nice as a deturant to the common criminal cause they do look scarry...but like I say if raised right they are great lap dogs.....

common criminal know how to poison dog so that is not the deterrent to a common criminal. a yappy yappy dog and a home security system may be a better investment

Oh well I guess this message board is like most then...people always telling others what they want and how to do things....I dunno I guess people don't even know the answer they just wanna make alot of posts....So the funny thing is ya act like I don't know Jamaica...just for starters I have lived in Jamaica for 38 months in the past 8 years so not a tourist or a newbe ....people act like they know everything ....kinda hard to poison a dog that lives inside of my house and well never mind go ahead and keep your message board this place is not for me...I came here looking for information and got everyone elses opinion not the info I wanted...
