Bones and dogs

So I went to the farmers market with my GF and her kids today.

I lucked out and found an organic meat place that had raw bison bones for dogs...

the lable said

DOG BONES
<span style="font-size: 8pt">Bison </span>

so one of the kids looks at it and goes you eat dog





So do you feed your dog bones?

If so, do you do raw ala Ceasar Milan?

I throw them in the oven at 500 for 15 mins because it is still winter an mi noh need the blood on mi carpet.

but in the summer I think I will try the raw ting

I never gave my girls REAL bones, but they went gaga over bullie sticks.

If they are greasy knuckles and things, I'll throw them in the Kennels in summer but if the bones are going to be consumed in the house I boil the fat off them first, then I use the boil fat water and pour it over their food.

The do adore bully sticks and pizzles and all that good stuff.

Make sure the bones, pizzles, bully sticks, etc... you buy, are ONLY from the USA (or in Canada, made in Canada), in other words, AVOID product of Mexico, etc...in this case it pays to know where the bones come from! It should say on the packaging.

Well since I live in the beef capital of the world my baby only gets alberta Beef

My dogs have all enjoyed oxtail bones as their favourite!



(always cooked - as they are definitely inside dogs)

If the bones are fresh..its all good...but who knows how long the so called &quot;fresh bones&quot; been hangin around. One of my dogs got deathly sick eating a raw bone. After taking him to the vet, she said the marrow inside the bone becomes rancid when not fresh and that made the dog ill. So how to tell its fresh? don't know. I think its better to cook before giving it to the dog.

When I first moved to Florida my two dogs had the runs BAD from some packaged rawhide bones I had bought at Walmart. I wonder where they were from.
