Micro chip

If I took Maria to a vet to be scanned for a chip (I doubt she has one) if she does have one could she be traced back to me if the owner reported her lost?

I'm thinking maybe we can find some one who does not live around here who wants her

I had my dog microchipped when she was a puppy. I also have her number registered at http://www.24petwatch.com.

I am pretty certain that if she is microchipped and you took her to a vet and provided accurate contact information then yes, she will be traced back to you if the owner had reported her lost or stolen. That's sort of the whole point of getting them microchipped in the first place.

I don't know about deactivation of the chip. It's a wild guess but I'm going to say no.

That is pretty much what I thought..

I would be very surprised if this owner had her chipped. But she said that she got her from a friend. I wonder if the friend had her chipped

if she is not fixed she is not chipped, unless she is a pure breed for breeding purpose a vet won't do the surgery to chip alone...hope that makes sense.

If Maria is chipped it will show in a scan.

Microchipping is not surgery, it is actually more like a vaccination and anyone can do it. I know of several people that have the tool and one of them did Paris for me.

However, if you bring Maria to a shelter and ask them, they can scan her to see if she is chipped. Or, any vet will do it also.

I was thinking that if they did not bother to spay her they surely did not chip her. But, who knows what is in this persons mind.

If she is not chipped would the shelter ask a lot of questions? Would they try to take her? Would they want a photo to put on their lost &amp; fond pet site?

I still have not found some one to take her

If &quot;ole idiot&quot; would stop coming to claim her Mr.JD would never call animal control. He said he was tempted to cuss pon her and tell her he will call if he sees her loose again. But, he did not want me to bring her there either. He does not want a hand in her demise.

I kind of doubt she is chipped...just because of the expense alone I can't see anyone who has put money into a dog then letting it run like this. heck, I have a hard time thinking it has vaccinations! It is a hard lesson in not giving away free puppies, people generally don't take care of things unless they pay hard earned money for them...not saying just because people pay for pets means they always take care of them, but in general, they are more likely.

Well, here's another angle...figure out what she looks most like, and then google the &quot;breed&quot; rescue in your area and see what pops up. Breed rescues are non kill. They might take her from you and find her a home.

Say she looks MinPin...googgle &quot;Min Pin Rescue south Florida...

Or, you could go back to the idea of offering the thoughtless owner a few bucks to keep her.

I was looking on line. I would have to say Manchester Terrier (standard). I would say she looks like a purebred except that she is a likkle too big (I'm guessing she is bout 6 months old). She is smaller than Barney (he was 34 lbs last vet visit). I think she probably weighs between 20 - 25 lbs)

$$ is kind of tight these days. I think Mr. JD would sooner kill her than give her any $. He has also not agreed to keep the puppy (but I know if &quot;ole idiot&quot; did not come he would not throw her out or call animal control) Plus she acts like she will never give her up

The dog does not seem to want to go with her when she comes. Mr. JD said she tried to run into the bedroom when she picked her up and he alone was here.

MR &amp; Jr have agreed that if she is out and about they will bring her here. The kids that had brought her her a few times have moved. (that is not good!) Lets just pray that nothing bad happens to her while this plays out.
