Madame Butterfly's New Do

Well, I knew when somebody asked me what kind of dog she was that a haircut was overdue lol.

Aside from jacking her tail up, I think they did a good job. You know I had to ask what happened here but there was an accident with the clippers and she really doesn't like for you to screw around her butt so I just said oh well. Her hair grows fast and at least she's good and clipped down before the cold kicks in too strong.

She looks so much prettier in the second picture than the first! I am a big fan of clippered faces on the poodles! Funny you should mention being asked what kind of dog she is. That sure is a dead giveaway to needing a updated hair do! My friend Val is learning this the hard way as she is learning to groom her own standard poodle. Neil is a Champion and well... if groomed correctly, you could never mistake him for anything but a poodle. Val had her own ideas about coat grooming until she was asked at class one night what breed Neil was.

I was so glad for the open door opportunity to finally get it across to her that her original grooming style made it hard for even seasoned people to know what was on the end of her leash. Neil has since been clippered so they can start over! I felt bad for her, she has been telling me how everyone has asked her who groomed her dog, and she was feeling so proud...even though I was trying to point out to her where the lines should actually be, as opposed to where they were.

I think she gets it now. Nice job on Butterfly, Tulip!

Thanks Nanook. I am a big fan of the clippered faces too though you could not tell by the first pic. Sometimes it's easy to forget when you see them every day. It slipped up on me this time.. But for sure by the time someone has to ask lol, then things have gotten out of hand.

I'm actually quite fanatical about the clippering. I will do Paris's face pretty much weekly! Feet, almost as often. The clean face desire probably comes from 35 years of looking a Doberman in the face, lol! The hair on the face always gets into water and food dishes and there are usually stains on the grooming dogs I see in the shop! The white ones especially.
