The sad part is, I have heard many conversations much like this one, with the exception of the rich guy with the dog worker, that is. Everything else, is word.



I helped out at a friends grooming shop today and it was big fun. The last 2 days before Christmas is crazy busy, everyone wants a clean Christmas doggie. Those who get regular grooming are the ones who know to book waaay in advance for the coveted time slot.. Today I washed and dried a Lab, a Golden retriever, 2 little dogs like Vannie has, 2 standard poodles, a pug and a beagle!

I should still give Rosebud a bath tonight yet but I can have her washed and dried in about a half an hour.

No kidding Kia! There are people who schedule whole days of errands and shopping etc...around days they get their dog groomed, knowing they can leave Fido at the grooming shop safe and sound for the day! Some quieter regulars come down a couple of times a week for a visit of a few hours as well, while mom and dad shop or do something they need to do.

Last night I did end up washing &amp; drying one Dobergirl to add to my long list. Poor Rosie got itchy and I could see she really needed a euca luca lime soak so away we went to the tub.

I'm going to wash and dry dogs again today. It's worth a nice chunk of change and fun to hang around long time peeps..

The groomer at my vet is half price in Friday. I foolishly called Monday (my friend who adopted the Beagle asked me where to get him done) She is all booked up!

Well, at least the beagle can be pretty easily washed at home! They can use a blow dryer to blow him at least a little dry. Yes, these groomers usually have Christmas grooming booked up far in advance. That is generous of the groomer to give half price on such a busy day!

They do grooming half price every Friday. I was surprised that they would do it this Friday.

She really wanted his nails cut. She is afraid to do it. I am too.

That is wonderful about the half price Friday grooms! Nails are easy! If they are real long and she needs them shorter until she can get in, she can always use even a people toenail clipper to take off the ends. Look at the nail, you can see the hollow part, in that there is no vein. She can at least snip the ends off if they need it badly, which will help.

The grooming shops around here do walk in nail trims for 7.50 to 10.00. They will also do a little face trim and sanitary trim or anal glad expression for a small fee on walk in basis as well. Here's a little tip, don't go on the top of the hour for those small services. Most appointments are scheduled in 2 or more hour long time frames, so the counter is always busy at the top of the hour.

Today I washed &amp; dried a LOT of dogs. There was 1yellow lab, a cocker, a Bichon, 2 puggles, 2 Lahsas, a Lahsa mix, a cockapoo, 2 maltese, and 2 toy poodles. I think that's all, but there could have been one I forgot!

I take Boomer, the 80-lb Lab-Collie nut mutt, to the groomer once a month since the temps dropped outside. He's low maintenance and he gets brushed, washed, dried, and nails clipped. When it's warm outside, he gets the garden hose spa treatment

Amy gets her lion cut/nails twice a year. $40

Max the cat goes about twice a year for a bath and nails clipped when him start smell too much like yard cat.

Barney goes about every 3 months (we bathe him at home every month unless it is cold)
We take advantage of half price Friday's. He gets a bath, nails clipped, ears cleaned, and anal glands expressed for about $25.

I bathe the Pins as needed, which in the big scheme of things is not very often, they really don't need it. Whack off nails is a constant job though, little dogs nails need more trimming than the larger dogs as they don't wear down as well.

Rosie gets her Euca Luca Lime baths as needed, sometimes it is more often than others.

Paris gets a bath every 10 days to two weeks. I must have a clean &amp; brushed fluffy poodle at all times and her face feet &amp; tail base get shaved about weekly. I can't stand hair on my poodle's face &amp; feet.

I'm one of the advanced appointment setters. Butterfly's Thanksgiving and Christmas appointments were set in October (the Tuesday before each day so I could remember).

I definitely view it as a free dog sitting day lol. I used to get my hair done on the same day.
