I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good liquid multi vitamin for dogs. Lil Alex is a real picky eater and I am worried about him getting the necessary nutrients. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Also can I give him fish oil to keep his coat nice. Thanks Keesha

Re: liquid multi vitamins
That is a loaded question! I would be leery of adding vitamins to his diet. Some might already be in his food, which then might cause him to have an overdose of certain ones, which could end up potentially dangerous.
There is a new supplement out that I am considering for Rosie, I have some samples but haven't done anything with them yet until I find time to research.
Do you feed him dry food? You could mix it with a little canned and some warm water to make a gravy. Miss Paris is being very fussy at the moment as well, I have some EVO canned to try this week
Basically, I will mix say 1/3 to 1/2 a can for her in a bowl with water, then mix in her kibble. Because deep chested dogs like Standard Poodles and Dobermans are prone to bloating if they inhale too much air, I feed them their food soaked.
For a P_om, I would think 1/4 can a day would be plenty to mix with kibble to make it taste more interesting.
Keesha, you might want to visit my food merry go round thread! There might be some suggestions for you, maybe Alex is just tired of the same old same old. I fry eggs and add drippings and all sorts of goodies to my dogs food too...
PS...canned food is usually around 8% protein so you don't want to use a lot of it, because it is not nearly enough. It is mostly water.

Re: liquid multi vitamins
Oh Nanook I am in a mess with him again Alex will only eat small amts of Solid gold kibbles once in awhile. Any kind of dog food forget it and I have tried all the good brands from his groomer. His diet consists of meat poultry and fish and veggies and fruits and small amts of cheese. Anything else he refuses to eat and will go 2 days at a time without eating. It is frustrating to say the least.

Re: liquid multi vitamins
Try mixing the Solid Gold with the Solid Gold canned? I have some of that here, it is turkey, ocean fish, carrots and sweet potatoes formula. At 9% protien, he still could not live on it forever so maybe try some and limit how much at a time to 1/3-1/4 of a can mixed with kibble.
I wouldn't mess with adding vitamins to his diet at all. Solid Gold is a very good food and has what he needs!
My only other suggestion would be to try natural balance or Evo, even Taste of the Wild, to see if Alex will eat any of it. Once you go to top shelf such as Solid Gold and Natural Balance, you SHOULD be able to switch them around on him if he starts to turn his nose up at a certain brand, if you stay with the same basic ingredients.
Paris has me fit to be tied as well. I have these couple of cases of EVO and Solid Gold canned that I am going to start adding now that she is used to her big diet switch!
