i think i have spoilt them and i have to try an stop....

how much time is too much to spend wid ur dogs

how much is too much to do for ur dogs


how do i stop them just looking at me until i either pet them, feed dem or just mek dem di center of my attention....

helpppppppppppppppppppppppp....the female is sooo fat...and the male will not leave my side if we going walking etc...to leave him for grooming is something else...he is not down to whining yet but he looks behind at me wid di most woebegotten eyes dat i have second thoughts about leaving him

truth is , that loving these animals as i do is a new thing for me...help

No treats, no pets no toys till they do their commands to reestablish order.

1.) stop humanizing the dogs. ignore the beggy beggy look.

2.) when them stare at you stare back and do not break eye contact first.

3.) tap spwile dem

dem have you well trained so now you have to retrain yuself to be the big dog in charge.

Yes I have one of those too. Alexander is for sure the Alpha. He is well behaved and mannered but has to be the center of attention all the time. He has a standing grooming appt and I bring him in and they run him in and out so he does not have to be put in a cage and be left. He pretty much goes every where with me, so it sucked this summer. I was not able to leave him with my girl friend in Frisco and just could not board him out, so was not able to go to Jamaica for the summer. For the first time it hit me what a spoiled pampered brat he is lol...

First of all, what Tanya said. It is easy to project human feelings on your dogs,you will then just confuse them. They do not think like we do, they think like dogs.

Vannie, there is no such thing as &quot;too much time&quot; to spend with your dogs. What matters is how you use the time you spend. You need to ALWAYS be alpha. You have to be consistent in showing them what you expect, never turning a blind eye when it isn't convenient. Never make exceptions for not correcting bad behavior (ie:because what they did was bad but it was also cute). When they do things you do not approve of, you have to teach them it is not acceptable by telling them so, and then offering an alternative.

Training is very time consuming, believe me! It consumes 6 or more hours of my time every day right now, but it will be time well spent when my puppy is grown.

Vannie, the single most important thing you can do for your dogs is to train them. That and feed them and make them feel secure and safe.

You will never stop this behavior as long as they get the desired results from doing the things they are doing. If you want them to go laydown somewhere out of the way, you should be able to tell them so. If they are doing things over and over you want them to stop doing, do not reward the behavior. Change the focus instead to what you want them to do &amp; show them. Teach them to lay down, then teach them to STAY. The next thing that happens is you can then tell them to go lay down and stay there and they will as long as they get rewarded for DOING THIS, and not for the annoying behavior. See, you have to show them what you want them to do.

Stop feeding any food other than what she needs and not a lick more! You are setting her up for heart trouble and diabetes WHICH IS EXPENSIVE and she is in for a short life. When you leave her for grooming, do not stand there and say goodbye and alla that stuff. You only trigger a sense that something bad is about to happen and sure enough...you walk away and there she sits traumatized.

next time when you go to the groomer, just walk in, talk to the groomer about what hair cut you are looking, do not pay ANY attention to her, when the groomer is ready for you to hand her over...just HAND HER OVER..no goodbye no see you in a little while, no nothing! Her actions are because you warned her something was going to happen..see where I am going with this here.

Serious thing, do go check Cesar, and see if you have dog Whisperer on national geographic or some such channel up there. WATCH &amp; Listen very carefully to what Cesar tells the people. You can learn a lot in a very short amount of time.

Also, I think you will have to train each dog separately at first. Teach one SIT. Then the next. Once they have SIT figured out on command then and then only teach them to DOWN,. You have to physically put them in the sit position by pulling up on the collar and pushing down on the butt. Don't let them keep getting up after 2 seconds. That is NOT a sit.

Repeat the above with DOWN. You will have to show them what Down means, by placing them in the down position physically, them pat and reward them with praises. I am treat training but if you have a obese dog she will have to be happy with rewards.

It will help a lot if you only start to offer praises when they do things that actually please you for a day or so by then they will do anything for praises the next day when you show each for them SI 7 get praises.. remember NEVER reward undesirable behavior with a positive response. Not saying go all gangster on them, just firmly let them know the word NO means NO!
