ok. I'll snap some pictures tonight. We're saying gooodbye to the framing contractors today
They're DONE!! We passed final inpection for framing and nailing (the guy had to actually measure between nails to be sure they have the nails all in the right places)
The windows and doors are supposed to all be in by the 21st, so those will be installed after that. Then, we have to get a roofer. Once the rood is done, and the windows and doors installed, Phil is going to do the electrical work - so we have to go buy all of our recessed lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, etc.
Once the electrical is done, we're going to do the sheetrock (YUK!!), and tile the bathroom. Carpet in the bedroom, painting...
We're getting close!
The plumber is already there getting pipes and vents set up.
The tub is being delivered on Tuesday. So, on Wednesday, Mike is coming back (for one day) to build the surround for the tub, and to build a bench in our shower.
GREAT PROGRESS it's been 6 months and my townhouse still isn't ready - but it's SOLD
i think the delay is that single woman ripoff thing - so be glad "you've got a man around the house" - Hi Phil
It's not often you have a job that finishes a week early AND 10% under budget! We did! Our first set of contractors are finished, and their work is perfect.
Here's the tub surround:
Ahhhh, nice place for a soak! I've got a huge double window over my clawfoot and it's so nice to sit under the full moon or the afternoon sun!

Our roof is about 1/4 of the way finished. We are saving a TON of $$ by using a friend of our contractor. He's only charging us $500 for labor (typically about a $1500 job in this area). We had a huge scare that we might have to replace the entire roof. In our town, we can no longer use wood shakes. We HAVE to use composite shingles. We weren't sure if they'd 'let' us have two different roof types on one house. The rest of our roof is in really good shape (remember we don't have snow, or any nasty weather for that matter - so I think roofs last a little longer?).
We finally chose our shower system.. Since our shower won't have a door or curtain, we cannot put the sprayer too close to the openning. So - even tho our shower is 4' X 8', we can only have shower heads on one wall. We chose Hansgroh fixtures. We're having a 10" rain shower head installed into the ceiling, a hand held unit, and 3 massage sprayers on the wall.
There are the controllers, and the massagers...
This is the rain head (this one is 7" - we bought the 10" one)
wow Patty!!!!
been following this all along but never said anything
I am jus loving the bathroom
so how is ist gonna work in the shower without any curtains and doors...isnt the place gonna be wet
They required us to have the shower be 8' long so that the water will stay in the shower. We can only have shower heads on one wall- the same wall as the opening. So, I guess water won't go around the corner..
They say we won't get mildew this way. since the shower is open and there's even a window in there...
That shower system is SWEEET! I love the idea of a walk-in with no doors or curtain! The faucets are beautiful too! How exciting.....
We're taking the weekend off and going to an Indian Casino today.
We finally have a roof (our roofer got thrown in jail, so we had to find a new guy). The windows and doors are installed and taped. We're ready for stucco next week.
Last night we bought about 6oo sq ft of tile and stone
We knew it'd be expensive, so didn't freak out too much at the bills. We bought some (the flooring) from Lowe's - it's SO pretty. The floor (only) is going to be ceramic tile - but it really looks good! They called it African, but I think it's just the color or style - I DOUBT it came from Africa
Then we got 16" slate squares for the shower (which is over 200 sq ft alone!) and the tub surround. We found some really cool trim pieces and Phil is going to use some extra squares to make a shower soap dish and a shelf.
We had to buy a fancy schmancy water heater for the new bathroom. Now we'll have unlimited hot water. The guy said you could turn on your hot water and go on vacation for a year and when you came back - your shower would STILL be running hot water...
purrrrfect! Is it one of those instand hot water heaters you're getting? I am thinking I'll get one of those units. Loving the bathroom ideas !!!
Can't wait to see pics!
