I have painted the walls of my living room Olive, but I am a fan of the color Crimson (a very deep Red), I saw a smokin sofa in the store in Crimson and I want it.
But my mother and sister keep saying, "that doesnt work"
scroll down to where it says "The Right Tools" and click on "paint online now". I tried it with your colors, didn't look half bad atall!
as long as its not bright kelly green i think they can make a nice look wihtout clashing. offset it with natural tans and heathers, you can create kind of a country look....
ILP, the colors olive and crimson certainly do go well. They are complementary on the color wheel. They are also a classic combination in home decor. Tell your sister to leave you alone - just kidding. Get your crimson couch, then add some pattern in other places - rugs, pillows, side chair etc, that incorporate both. Visit a good fabric store, and look at the choices. Depending on your design esthetic, you can make it look anyway you want. Do you want some examples?
Can you tell me what your olive is specifically (manufacturer, color name/number)? Same for the sofa.
GB I would LOVE some examples. As for the walls...I went to Home Depot and just bought the color "Olive", they did mix it, but it seemed to be one of their standard colors. As for the sofa it is American Signature and the color is listed as Crimson.

I agree with green_biscuit, I have those colors in my master bath (mine is more burgundy than crimson) but it looks great. I can post pics for the example...

ILP, what would you say your decorating style is? Can you give me a hint? Post some photos? Is the Home Depot paint Behr?

The paint was Behr Paint. I would describe my style as a mix of Old World Caribbean & Modern. So my home has lots of wood (floors, cabinets, etc), the furniture that I have purchased is wood and quite heavy (looking).
ILP, I chose Olivine 420F-5 off behr.com. Is that about the right shade? The top of the can will have the number, if you can look. Looking at accent ideas for you. What about other upholstery? Budget (as in low, medium, high )
Those are the only red ones I can find in that manufacturer.
As you can see, I am a stickler for details, and I want to recommend the same things for you that I would for a client (insofaras cyberspace allows).
