In Laws Coming from JA

My father-in-law and his wife are coming up from JA, in a week, to stay with Red and me. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/bannana_purple.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/bannana_purple.gif[/img] Although Red and I live in a townhouse I don't think it will be to cramped. We have a guest room and a guest bathroom.

I have washed the really nice million zillion thread count sheets, and made the guest bed with them. I have completely loaded the guest bathroom with soaps, scrubbers, fancy lotions, scented candels, new tooth brush holder, oversized towels, and all sorts of facial/pedicure products. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I haven't really had guest stay with us for a long period of time, other than our friends from JA who don't require much...

What other sorts of things can I do to make my in laws feel special? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70402-thinking.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70402-thinking.gif[/img] This is their vacation, and I want them to feel relaxed and pampered while they stay with us.

well what would Oprah do for her guests...mi gwine check and come back..

in the meantime...it would be nice to have a tv in there so they could watch when they want to..

couple of magazines for them to browse..sports, girly and current events....it may be difficult with books since you don't know what they really like to read..

2 robes for them hanging in the bathroom [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] a nice touch

when we visit my inlaws..they usually ask what we want them to get at the supermarket ahead of time...we usually say nothing but they get a whole bunch of stuff anyway...

oh yeah, buy the herbal teas..
most jamaican oomen dem like dem herb teas. she and him might even like the variety pack dat dem a sell now.
buy stuff fe heat up inna microwave fe lunch, when unno gwan a work and dem want to eat. crackers, cheese, bun, hardo bread. dem tings deh..
Mags a one good touch too..
No feget fe have one cake ready too..pon the table so dem can tek as dem want when dem have the munchies....
Fruits also are an absolute muss..

mek sure u air out de guest room , with some nice smells or add scents to the room....
or do like me , use the whole house scents inna de central air vents.. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

(me dis had weekend guests from NY, who said them have a wonderful time, and dem want to move down ya soh, so me a try duplicate some of the things I did).. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Great list 7's! it looks just like the list of stuff I walk in to when I do live in dog sitting, I feel better than home, they take good care of me!
I was gonna mention the food stuffs too, but got caught up in thinking about flowers.

Do you have to leave them home while you go to work? Leaving them a car to use if they want to explore would be nice. I get the munchies PLUS an Audi to drive!

Red and I were just making the grocery list. If I hadn't read this thread I would have forgotten to add the herbal teas. Everytime we stay with his father in Jamaica we have herbal teas in the morning and evening. I have some left over from our last trip to JA, but I think I will go and buy more. I also love the bath robe idea. Especially since the guest bath is on a different floor than the guest bedroom. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70371-jump.gif[/img]

I was also thinking about getting fresh flowers, fruits, and extra snacks. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img] I am not sure about the cakes thing though. I would love to make a cake for them to munch on, but I don't think they will eat the overly sweet cake I know how to make. Red and I will be off work while they are here. So they won't ever be here in the house by themselves. We are planning on taking them into the city for a day, shopping, having a party on the weekend, and allowing them to just relax.

Boundie, the other thing that I think is essential is bottled or filtered water. At the very least, have a couple of bottles frozen ready to take to the room, or chilled and placed in an ince bucket. Provide a couple of small hand towels if you use this method, as they will weep. Alternately, fill a thermos or insulated carafe. I love the look of the glass bottles and matching glasses, but then it doesn't stay cold.

Another thing, a choice of pillows, if you can. Nothing worse than hating the one and only pillow you are offered.

Robes are a nice touch, too. Extra blanket and extra sheet, in case they get cold, or find your spread hot, but the one top sheet is not enough. A small bowl of fruit, and snacks (like biscuits) along with some napkins tucked under discreetly in the bedroom is nice, too.
