Scotch Bonnet Pepper Plant

I don't know how my father in law managed it, but he brought us plenty of peppers from his garden. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/bannana_purple.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/bannana_purple.gif[/img]

I would like to grow our own scotch bonnet pepper plant from the seeds. Does anyone have any idea how I should do this? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

Do I have to dry the seeds first? How to keep the seeds in good condition until I am ready to plant?

I assume I should start them in a pot outside and move it inside when it starts to get cold out?

Or should I start them indoors late in the winter and move them outside when the weather gets warm?


How much light, water, fertilizer...

grrr. just lost a long post. First thing, don't put them in the fridge. The rest of it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Step 1 remove seeds and place in an empty glass jar, leave top off and place where they will start to dry in the sun if have window ledge. Let dry for at least 4-6weeks. In November plant seeds in flat planter no more than 1 inch below potting soil. Keep well watered and in warm place and should see seedlings by mid to end January. Separate the best looking ones into small pots and place outside if weather at night does not go below 55 degrees. As weather permits in your area you should be able to keep them outside all summer. Hello, there! I'm able to purchase a three pack (plants) in the spring when they sell the tomatoes plants and all the rest. Only about $1.89. You will get plenty of peppers off of these plants. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70371-jump.gif[/img] Last year I got so many that I chopped and froze them in baggies to use through out the year for salsas, hot sauces and cooking in stir frys; you can also can them in jars in a pickling brine, hmmm..
