Replacing front windows

of my home.

I have 6 windows in the front dat I plan to replace..
I really dont want the picture windows as I heard that they have a habit of leaking..
and if u know me, I dont like too much bodderation.. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]
so I am off to lowes, and really thinking of doing something that *looks* like a picture window, but really arent..
For those who have had the xperience of doing picture verses regular, whats your views of both and what do u suggest?
any help ya soh would be greatly appreciated as me really dont know..

what is a pickcha window? Is it like a bay window? We had a bay window replaced because it did leak they were original to the house so replaced them.. I think it also depends on the person puttting the windows in. Ours has been working great since then and was worth every penny spent [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

May I make a recommendation on a brand of windows? Andersen-- I think Lowes sells Pella.. Customer service on Pella has been horrible (my nayba have pella window and whole heap a problem and the customer service bites badly).

I have Andersen windows and every time I call (to get info or a screen or parts) , have had great customer service experience & delivery of items.

I have a couple of Anderson windows..in the family room, where the previous owners replaced..
and yes, dem work very well..
will ask fe dem a Lowes if dem carry it..nay check fe no pella..
but being honest, me dis a look sinting fast , as me dont think I will be opening dem as dem deh right a de front of the house, and sometimes me feget fe lack up......

One of the front window is broked cus de pickney cross the street brok it, and me just a realize this pass spring when me see one halloween egg wedge between the front glass and the inside glass..

me a wonder bout the casement windows doe..
the ones dat joined togther, but when dem put in, dem look really nice like picta window..

what you have in the pic looks like a bow window to me.. We used to have the bow window but when we replaced it with casements [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img] we decided to make a bay window.. one big non opening window and 2 casements on the side.

the casements do look good and it is generally the ones on the sides that can open if you wish.

Andersen also makes a new type of insect screen that is so fine you cant barely see it when it is on, so if it is a seamless look you are seeking you can find it there.

well, I went to Lowes and I am just not happy..
I am more confused dan ever with the choices..

Casements, sliders, double hung, inserts, upstairs, downstairs...oye..

but without the gridwuk..
Lowes can do it as a custom order, but even doe it going to be one big window now, (welded together) dem want to charge me fe four windows plus the cost of capping four windows...... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

A tink a need fe go a Home Depot and see what dem a offer..
