I can help you ((Skells))
but this is something your husband has to do.
Go to building supply and get some Calcium Chloride
Have him put this in the basement
*Take a 5 gallon bucket
put a peice of screen over top
lay some of the Calcium Chloride on top
and it will sit there and absorb all the inpurities and Moisture out of the air.
pour the liquid from the bucket outside not in sewer.

I am now living in the house. It does not smell so bad anymore. I Fabulosoed the house and it is not so bad anymore. I have yet to buy a dehumidifier. The carpets in the bedrooms need to be steamed but all in due time. I have my Glades doing their thing in a few rooms so I don't think it is so bad anymore.

I just moved into an apartment that was empty for a few months and it had a kind of stale smell. I kept the windows open and moved my furniture in. Cleaning didn't help, but the smell is wearing off now that it's lived in.
Between cooking and cleaning and your own house smells, I think it will go away on it's own.
I have even gone away for the weekend and not smelled it when I return.

I also burn scented candles a lot.

I've noticed that it is starting to smell alot like home now. I cut down on the sweet smelling fragrances as advised. I guess time and your own smells will do the trick.
