The way my kitchen is set up, the stove is near the door, then the dishwasher, then the sink.
What I noticed when the stove was pulled out is that the dishwasher seemed to be insulated on the side next to the stove. I have to check and see if it's on the other side also, but I don't think so.
It seems like the insulation, or whatever it is, was covered in plastic, which makes no sense since it's against the stove. The plastic is stuck to the stove on that side.
So I guess it's not common for the dishwasher to be right next to the stove? I don't think there was anyplace else to put it, though, in my kitchen. I don't know. I think the previous owners of my house were crazy.
Let your dishes air dry
A dishwasher uses more energy to dry your dishes than to wash them. If your dishwasher doesn't have an automatic air-dry switch, turn off the control knob after the final rinse and prop the door open to let moisture escape.
When purchasing a dishwasher, look for energy saving features like a short wash cycle.
Shorter washing cycles with fewer rinses, save water and water-heating energy.
Use your dishwasher only for full loads.
Be sure your dishwasher is full but not overloaded when you turn it on. Improper loading can result in poorly cleaned dishes that need to be rewashed.
Install your dishwasher away from your refrigerator.
The dishwasher's heat and moisture make the refrigerator work harder. Keep your refrigerator away from other heat sources, such as direct sunlight or next to your stove.
Refrigerators / Freezers:
My dishwasher is currently in bed sleeping. At the moment she requires manual adjustments but I'm working on getting her converted to automatic by next summer She kind of low maintenance too. No engineers to call out either.

Seriously, Just Blue, that is a problem. What you have there is a dishwasher that was NOT meant to be installed next to a stove. First of all, that is an unconventional location, but that aside, you need a shield. Can you say fire hazard? I would start with your dishwasher manufacturers website, and go from there. You want/need help?
I've been in this house for six years and I believe that both the stove and dishwasher were here, in the same spot, since before that. I'm preparing to sell the house, so I'm not too worried about it. I'm sure that the new owners will redo the kitchen. I just thought it was weird.
But thanks for the offer.
