Caulking

kay...I noticed that the caulk around my kitchen sink is soft like putty/playdough and comes off if you touch it [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

what the heck did this man use ?

and I noticed a little mildew on the caulk around the bathroom tub..should I just put some bleach on it ...or chip it and re-caulk ?

G - cut it out and recaulk I would use an Xacto knife, and the caulk in the tube that does not require the metal "gun". Make sure you are buying white. The clear stuff looks nasty even when clean.

After you get the old stuff off, clean thoroughly with a bleach cleanser, and let dry thoroughly. Mind you don't splash in the meantime. After dinner is a good time, on a Friday. That way, you can doo it, clean it, then leave to dry overnight. In the morning, begin to caulk. Cut the end low (towards the end) and at an angle. Squeeze along in the most continuous fashion you can, use your finger to smooth - good to go. Any stray bits can be cleaned up later (gently) with the same Xacto knife.
