Wood Floor Help

I decided to rip up the carpet in the baby's room for fear of dust mites and allergens. Good thing too because look what I found underneath it. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

Mold. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif[/img]



I am going to try cleaning it first with some Murphy's Oil but I think I am going to end up having it sanded and buffed.

Now if I get the floor sanded and buffed will the black stain be removed or is it permanent? [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif[/img]

bleach kills the mold so you could try applying some bleach before sanding & staining

50% bleach & water

yeah.. couldnt imagine the mold a blow round the place when the sander a run [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/vomit.gif[/img] that is why I thought bleach first

It killed the germs...that's about. We are having a professional take out all the carpets from the bedrooms and do all the heavy work. I can imagine what's below the carpet that we are inhaling. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif[/img] Most of the house is wood floor anyway with the exception of the living room and a portion of the basement.

uugggh. Glad you are hiring a pro. Sanding floors is a difficult and messy process, especially with a tiny baby. Can you use an area rug in there for now until the baby is older?

That's what we are doing now. We plan to coincide the sanding with our vacation when it gets a little warmer so we won't have to inhale all that mess.
