Bathrooms: combine or keep separate

Update:
We met with the architect and basically have decided to create a bath for the kids and a half bath for guests.

The design for the kids bath will have a laundry chute into the laundry room below [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yahoo.gif[/img] as well as a separate space for the tub & shower. It will have only 1 sink.

So now the choices are do I want a standard bath or freestanding bath in the space. I like the idea of the freestanding because it will allow more room for the laundry chute or conversely for clothes to fall around it [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]


We will reuse the existing toilets as they are newer (as in we purchased them since living here) and are fully functional, repurpose the existing lavatory into the guest bath and then will just need a single sink (i am thinking a trough like sink -- so they can stand next to each other & brush their teeth with minimal fighting) and some storage.

BoyKia's room is going to lose some space but will gain a larger closet too.. so now the renovation project grows... as usual
