Rock/Stone Scaping

I am doing some investigative work on rock/stone scaping. I want a patio built in my back yard. Di current mr ilp thinks we should build the patio before we attempt to put greenery/flowers in. I have looked at patterns and designs. I know what I like. I have started to skim the trade magazines to see about companies (both large and small) and what they may have to offer.

Yes build your patio first the do the landscaping. What type of patio yu looking at? ee: stone, wood, slab?

ILP, that is a pretty formal look. It is important to match your hardscaping to the style of your home for a united look. What type of home do you have? Oh, and hardscaping should always be done prior to other things, if possible.

GB, my house is the typical suburban house with brick front aluminum siding.

I saw this type of stone at a house up the street and I like the way it looked, so I thought I would have it done here. What other styles would you suggest?

how big is the back yard? are you paving the whole thing?

the yard is 40x60 feet (approx.) and i want to stone most of it. of course leaving some to put greenery ahn tings.

truthfully...ilp HATES grass...

how are you planning the patio

square, rectangle, curved? I like the idea of a curved patio with paved ths that can go to different areas of the yard which means less grass and more plantings..


I think the stones you have pictured would look nice in a semi elliptical patio with a ledge for sitting leading to a BBQ area [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img]

no curves going on, only because I hadnt thought of it. I do know that the design will take over most of the yard. We will have the outsides (of the design) for greenery.

Try as I might ILP, I just can't imagine what kind of house you mean. Is it a ranch? Garrison? Can you show a photo, or find one like it? Also, how big is the yard? What is there? Close nieghbors house? Any chance you can take pictures?
