i read this week that forget me nots are not perennial, dem just spread dem seed and regrow every year. which explained why they were showing up unexpectedly in some parts of my garden. i love to see them, still, they cheer me up.
thanks ohliz, mzzzzwish, sandif, mtngal....yeah mtngal...forgetmenots are actually biennials...meaning they drop seeds for new plants each year. That's why i can ruthlessly yank them when they go by...and know that they'll still be plenty next year. I just wait til they're past bloom, yank and shake the seeds around...and throw the rest over my stone wall...or anywhere else i want them to spread. took me a while to get them like this...but now that i have...i doubt i'll ever be without them.
if i could only get my foxgloves to spread so profusely...
Thanks Loopsie! Absolutely beautiful!!! It is raining and dreary here today so these are a wonderful, bright cheerful delight to look upon!!! We need the rain - but hey. !!

I haven't started my little front garden as yet because I'm iffy about the weather but it's covered with blooming blue Morning Glory. Cute but by this weekend or next, I'm pulling them up and replacing with annuals. Have a few Lily of Valley that I may leave. </div></div>
you have morning glories already? i planted a few couple weeks ago, but dem neva tek.

ahhhhhhhhh the coleus. That basket is filled with quite a few plants. On either ends are trailing purple petunias, in front, the little purple flowers are a bacopa. Theres an ivy on the left front, and a small impatien. In the center is the coleus compry mentioned, and on either side, on the right is an upright fuschia, on the left is a tuberous begonia. Will be pretty if i can keep it watered. </div></div>
Speaking of coleus !!!! This is how they grow in Jamaica !!!!

Wonderful Loopsie! How come I can't seem to get my forget me nots to spread really? I have two little patches, adn that is it (for like 3 years running). I would LOVE to have an opportunity to yank it. :-(

I have lots MG. I'm pulling up 90% of them on the weekend. I'll bring you some if you'd like.

I started with 3 plants a couple years ago. Now the entire garden is covered with them. It's beautiful right now but in a couple weeks they will stop blooming hence the reason I'm going to pull them up and replace them with annuals.
