how di wallpaper ting did go? Mi a repaint mi kitchen now...yu fi see di ole nasty wallpaper dat did come wid di house. Pure work now fi tek down dat mess.


Look at this ugly mess. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif[/img] I wanna paint this over with a mustard yellow.







There is one wall that is brick painted over white. Now I am painting them red with white spacing to give it a nice effect. Not finished yet, just did a portion over the door to see how it would look.

what's up Skells, lawd mi tyad an a just one bathroom done two more to go. Mi nuh even patch back the wall yet (it was hung incorrectly so I had damage to the walls. I tried painting over the other bathroom but when the edges started to curl it did look too ugly.

so skells...after you get them painted red...is there a way you can antique over it? i think those bricks would look better with a more "used" look to them. Can you rub a stain over them?

but don't mind me...i tend to lean towards the rustic.

Wallpaper can be painted over if, and only if, all seems are securely glued down, there is no moisture problem, and the paper is primed prior to painting.

Those photos indicate some sort of issue to me. Was there a roof leak that has been repaired? Some other issue?

I had a yellow kitchen and loved it. However, I have to agree with Loopsie, that straight red on those bricks is NOT going to look good, in the end. Either tone the white down to a cream with lots of yellow, or, if you really want the brick look, put the time into a proper finish...or of course, you could strip it. Or you could gouge your eyes out, either way.... [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif[/img]

You want to do the brick, let's at least do a 2 step process, if not 3. Pretty please?

As for painting over that paper, I am concerned about issues, but it is possible. Come back and we talk.

Before we bought the house there was some leaking in the roof but the previous owners had it replaced. Other than that the wall paper cannot be painted over because of the seams. Don't want to run the risk of have it fall off after painting.

My kitchen project

The kitchen project is going slowly but surely (Am back at work)

The wallpaper removal portion is about 45 percent completed.
The brick is almost done...just needs 1 more coat of paint and the edge bricks need to be done too. Here's how it looks so far. We love this red! We think it's gonna go great with the yellow paint, plus we have red and yellow accessories that match! [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70371-jump.gif[/img]

I wanted bright colors for my kitchen because it is very dark as there are no windows. Having the one red wall which compliments the yellow helps alot.

skells some point in the future you can install recessed lighting in the ceiling and under counter lights. will help with the lack of natural light issue. looks good.

Whenever I do a complete remodel of cabinets, appliances, etc (when I can afford it...after Sarah graduates from college [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]).....I am going to have recessed lights installed. Right now I have a fluorescent light and 3 under the cupboards so I have plenty of light but it's just how it looks in the daytime that irks me.
